Bayberry Cottage

Bayberry Cottage is a beautiful, immaculate, lovingly maintained and well-stocked cottage located in an ideal vacation spot. It sits over a quiet tidal cove rich with birds, fish and small boats. It is tucked into a wooded enclave of small cottages, each of which is private. Nights are quiet, mornings are beautiful. Last year, homemade doughnuts were placed for sale by an anonymous neighbor, right at the end of the driveway by the horses and donkey. The location is perfect. A swimmable, yet rustic beach is within walking distance, as is a breakfast and lunch restaurant. The only grocery store you will really need is a mile away. If you want to drive, there is a wonderful town nearby, Damariscotta, which is located on a gorgeous, green river, along which there is a wooded hiking trail, as well as some great food and fun shops. There is a dramatic coastal lighthouse to explore, and many other perfectly satisfying excursions for a rainy day with or without children. Good food is easy to find. Lobster abounds, of course, but if you prefer something else there are genuinely good restaurants nearby and the local beach even has a food concession, organically oriented. The owners provide an excellent guide to the restaurants and activities in the area. My family will be returning to Bayberry Cottage for the third time this summer. We feel fortunate in having found Bayberry for our vacation spot, both in terms of its location, which is ideal, and the actual cottage, which is lovely. I would enthusiastically recommend it to friends. It is well suited for small families, or couples, or friends, who will enjoy the many activities in the area, such as canoeing, kayacking and climbing around on rocks, as well as those who want to engage in those most idyllic time-honored vacation activities of all: reading, walking, exploring and enjoying a exquisitely beautiful place.
Owner's Response: Hi JW,
We really appreciate your kind words. It means a lot to us to learn that our guests share our deep appreciation for our area and enjoy the time they spend at our beloved Bayberry Cottage.
