Photos and Description of this Chepachet holiday cottage 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 5

The cottage is lakefront and approx. 200 ft. from a Private Town Beach, with 2 lifeguards. It doesn't get any better than this! If you are looking for laid back, relaxing, and just plain, old fashioned comfort, this is the best spot on the lake. There is a large deck in front to enjoy the view, and front & back 3 season porches. The cottage was built in the 1940's by my grandfather, and we have completely renovated the whole house in the past three years. The lake is stocked with Trout by the RI- D.E.M., and is a favorite of Northwest RI fishermen. Located two miles from the cottage is Historic Chepachet Village, a quaint little downtown area, with Brown and Hopkins General Store, which is the oldest General Store in continuous operation. There are also antique shops and restaurants, laundry, a grocery store, and post office. It is also the home of the 'Ancients and Horribles Parade', which is the second oldest Fourth of July Parade in this area next to Bristol, RI.

Fabulous fall getaway :)

Review Submitted: October 29, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
The cottage was every bit as charming as advertised and then some. The location was perfect and the owners couldn't be nicer. They even left us homebaked cookies and all the fixings for smoores - what more could you ask for.
Owner's Response: Great to meet such nice people from all over the world.

Autumn Vacation

Ears Phoenix, AZ
Review Submitted: November 16, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
I could not have chosen a more perfect place to designate as "home base" for my first visit to the area. I loved staying in Chepachet away from all the hustle and bustle; but I liked the fact that there were neighbors around. The grocery store and drug store (CVS) were only about 5-7 minutes away.
I took a day trip every day which included Jamestown and Newport, R.I., Mystic, CT. and many drives thru rural areas of R.I. and neighboring states to enjoy the beautiful foilage, stopping along the way to shop!
As for the cottage, it was so comfy. It had everything you would need at a home away from home---I was amazed to find a roll of Scotch tape when I neded it. The only thing I found lacking was bright enough lighting in the bathroom to adequately do my make-up and hair.
I would certainly go back again and really appreciated all the brochures to look at when choosing a destination for dinner, etc.
The owners were so very hospitable and attentive.
Owner's Response: A great big "Thank You" to all of our wonderful guests!
We try to maintain the cottage as a place that, we too, would want to go to. Cleanliness is an absolute must for us, it has to pass my test for that, and we would never let someone stay, until it was perfect and up to our standards. (Which are extremely High!!!)
We try to leave our guests with anything that they would ever need to feel like they were "HOME SWEET HOME".
The location is great, too! There's a lot of shopping close by and if you choose to go a little further, there are maps and brochures to guide you.
We want to thank every one of our Guests, we have made many, many friends and feel like they are part of our family.
Thank you , all of you, and have Safe and Happy Holidays!

A lovely New England cottage

KTLVSREDSOX Livermore, CA
Review Submitted: September 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
This was an adorable cottage and it was everything we wanted . The owners were always available if we had any questions and they were there to greet us and couldn't have been nicer.. It was very clean and comfortable. I wish I could go back to see the fall foliage. This cottage would be the perfect place to be to experience a New England Autumn.
Owner's Response: Come and see for yourselves, the beautiful Fall Foliage here at Grandma's Doll House Cottage.
We have been very lucky to have had the most wonderful and thoughtful guests, they and our reviews speak for themselves.

Perfect getaway

Review Submitted: August 31, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
My first impression was that the pictures on this site simply do not do the cottage justice. The owners are absolutely wonderful and are so kind. The cottage is adorable and so clean and well cared for. The details that the owners have provided are so welcoming. They have taken impeccable care of the quaint home. The pond is beautiful, clean, and relaxing. There is nothing more enjoyable than sitting on that front porch swing, reading a book, and listening to the birds. The back yard fire place is so wonderful under the big beautiful trees. For the week that we were visiting, I felt like the cottage was my home and I miss it terribly! What I really love about Rhode Island is that any day trip is within a 20-45 minute car ride. The cottage is in a quiet area, but accessible to the day trip areas. Providence is wonderful and is only about 20 minutes from the cottage. Also great is Block Island (the ferry dock in Pt. Judith is about 45 minutes away), as well as Jamestown and Newport. Bristol, Tiverton is also about 45 minutes away. I loved the photo album of helpful menus and brochures from local attractions. That helped me immensely in my decisions about what to visit. Also nearby is Lincoln Woods State Park. It’s a beautiful park close to the cottage.

The week was wonderful, relaxing, and I’ve recommended the cottage to many others already! Rhonda and Daniel are simply the best!
Owner's Response: This is the best opportunity I can name to be able to meet the most wonderful people, get to know them and have them as friends. the cottage has let us have that oppportunity!
It is also nice to be able to show folks from out of town our little piece of heaven, and the great things there are to do here in RI.
This home is a family treasure to our family and our wonderful guests have shown the utmost in care and respect in taking care of it, also. We deeply appreciate it.
We are the lucky ones!

Great time, great place

Markie NYC, NY
Review Submitted: July 9, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We went there for a family vacation and had a wonderful time. It was just as described in the listing, except more charming than pictured. The owners made us feel like family.
We will definitely be going back and look forward to our next visit.

Megan and Mark
Owner's Response: Come on down to Grandma's Cottage and enjoy the peace and tranquility for yourselves.
Wake up in the morning to a beautiful sunrise and sit on the front deck with your morning coffee watching the sparkling water in front of you.
Go back in time to a simpler lifestyle, relax with a good book on one of the two porch swings.
A great get away from it all, but still close enough to shopping centers, grocery stores they are all just a mile away!!!
Downtown is like going back into time, the olde general store is a mixture of penny candy, country home decor and some antiques, along with a coffee shop in the back. You can surely imagine what it was like way back when, that building dates back to the 1800's. A Must See!
The old post office is now an antique shop with some great finds, just go in and look around, your sure to bring home a little piece of our little village with you!
If you are looking for great food and atmosphere, there is a tavern, right next door to the general store it was a weigh station for stagecoaches, back in the 1800's.
You can just picture the old stagecoaches riding down the dusty road.
Since we have opened up our home we have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful, warm and friendly people from all over the world.
Anyone with any questions can call us directly.
Thanks~~: )
