The house was in nice condition and a great location to the ferry. The house had all the amenities we were looking for - BBQ, nice sitting areas outside, and a coffee maker! The house was well maintained (the carpets were kind of spotted), but the owner provided great customer service.
We had friends over for a BBQ one night, took the ferry over to the peninsula, drove over to Corona del Mar one day, went to Disneyland and Hollywood and walked around the island at night. All the neighbors were very friendly as well.
The grocery store on the island was a bit pricey but convenient. We went to Joe's Crab Shack and the Rusty Pelican for dinner. Enjoyed ourselves there but did not like the Crab Cooker on the peninsula. I remember that being better.
We would recommend this to our friends and family and may even be back!

Wonderful spacious beach house

We just returned from a week on the island and my brother and I agree that this is the best house we have ever rented on Balboa Island (we have been renting since 1973). The house still has all the cottage beach house charm that we love but instead of feeling like we were all stepping on each other in cramped quarters we were amazed with the spaciousness once inside. Great patio space in front and back too. We loved this house and plan to rent again next year.
