Elk Lodge Guest House offers privacy, incredible Colorado mountain scenery and wildlife viewing. The Lodge is rustic , modern and FULLY equipped - from cooking utensils, to linens - all you need to bring is a sense of adventure. Soak in the outdoor hot tub, relax in the sauna, hang out on the deck in an oversize hammock. The house has a rustic feel, yet has all the modern conveniences. Custom wood-work is throughout. It is on a secluded 123 acre parcel at an elevation of 7000 feet and is surrounded by forests and mountains. The views from the 1000 square feet of deck are spectacular! You can hike and bike from the front door and will likely encounter wildlife - deer, elk, bobcats, mountain lions, bears, foxes and wild turkeys! Please note that it is an adventure to drive up here - the last 3 1/2 miles are on winding mountain dirt road.

Nearest Airport: Denver International (DIA) at 65 Miles
Elk Lodge is located in northern Colorado, 14 miles west of Fort Collins, 65 miles north of Denver. This location is central to the best Northern Colorado has to offer. We are located in scenic Rist Canyon, with nearby ranches offering horseback riding and other activities. You can also hike, mountain bike and explore jeep trails in out little Canyon. The Lodge is 20 minutes away from the only Wild and Scenic designated river in Colorado, the Poudre River. You can follow this river valley up to the continental divide and enjoy hiking, camping and rafting along the way. Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park is less than 75 minutes away, 1 1/2 hours to ski resorts, minutes away from Lory State Park and Horsetooth Reservoir, 1/2 hour to Fort Collins and Colorado State University and a little over an hour to Cheyenne or Laramie, Wyoming.   • The entire upstairs is the Master bedroom and bath - its very spacious. It has a queen size poster bed and a comfortable queen futon which folds into a couch to become a sitting area. There is also a hanging balcony off the Master bedroom with a nice little outside table for two and great views. One of the two downstairs bedrooms has a queen bed with a single bunk bed above it - great for kids. The other downstairs bedroom has a Sleep number queen bed which allows you to adjust the firmness of each side of the bed. The living room couch also folds out into a queen bed.

Notes: The road leading to the lodge includes 3 1/2 miles of bumpy, winding dirt road which is steep in sections. An SUV is best for getting up here, although people do drive street cars up in the summer. A higher clearance 4 wheel drive vehicle is recommended. Once up here, access into the Lodge is fairly easy - there is only one step to get onto the deck and from there you can enter the front door or the side patio doors. The deck is spacious and has great views, so a person with limited mobility or in a wheelchair could make good use of the outside environment on the deck. The terraine around the Lodge is rocky and steep in some areas.- great for hiking and mountain biking.

Unique Setting: Elk Lodge is a one of a kind place. You can get to Fort Collins, a thriving College town, in about 35 minutes, yet you feel like you are in the wilderness. It has been called 'the closest far-away place from civilization'. The drive up is an adventure in itself - the last 3 plus miles are on mountain dirt road. The whole experience is unique. If you are looking for a 'Mariott' or 'Hilton' vacation - this is not for you. We are off the beaten path and on the road less traveled. Once you are here, the Lodge will pamper you with saunas, hot tub soaks, comfortable beds, a fully equipped kitchen and all the amenities of home, but it still has that cabin in the wooods feeling.

Phone provided with free long distance: We have high speed internet at the Lodge and are able to provide an internet phone with unlimited long distance calls within the US. This is free of charge.
