Lovely cottage and grounds; central, wooded locale

We thoroughly enjoyed a three-week stay at Ripples Cottage, and plan to return next year. The house is clean, cozy, and meticulously well-maintained, with new appliances and an ample supply of linens -- all labeled clearly for ease of identification and use. The owner is a landscape architect, and her expertise shows; the grounds are beautiful, too, with many plantings also labeled -- and a blueberry bush, from which our children were invited to pick berries.
We are a family of five (with children aged 4, 10, and 15), and the Somesville location was perfect for us. We had good access to Acadia, and spent most of our time biking on the carriage trails (with nearest entrances about 10-15 minutes away by car), which we loved. Within similarly short distances by car: excellent swimming in Echo Lake, and the small, appealing port town of Southeast Harbor; a hiking trail on Beech Mountain. A manageable bike ride for a rider comfortable with some hills and car traffic: to Beech Hill Farm, with excellent organic produce. Bar Harbor, with an ample supermarket and at least two nice little natural food markets, is about 20 minutes away by car; for single items, there's a well-stocked convenience store much closer (Somesville One-Stop). Somesville itself has a few nice-looking little attractions (a good bookstore, an antique shop, a repertory theater), and there's a little, local swimming spot, just down the hill from the house. We'll have to get to those, next year . . .
One other thing: We found the owner to be extremely responsive and accommodating when we found, on arrival, that the wireless internet connection was down. Since (sadly) we had to get some work done while there, we had to establish some sort of internet connection. The wireless problem turned out to be a little tough to fix, but was well on its way to solution by the time we left (I'm sure it's up and running, now); meanwhile, the owner went well out of her way (all the way to Bangor, in fact) to establish a dial-up connection, for use during our stay. She has been entirely pleasant and helpful with every aspect of the rental process.
