Excellent Vacation!

We just returned from our week long stay at Sapphire Beach Resort. We had an excellent vacation! Sapphire Beach is one of the best snorkeling beaches on the island!
The condo was older and in need of some renovations, nothing major. It was clean and comfortable with a multi million dollar view! This condo unit itself is not a 5 star property but the location is! The price we paid was more than fair! Some guests were very disappointed, obviously they thought they were coming to a luxurious property and they paid way more than we did. If you want 5 star then go the The Ritz. If you want decent accomodations on one of the best beaches in the world then come here! People came from the luxury hotels to spend the day at Sapphire Beach. The owner was very easy to deal with and the property managers (Sam and Mona) were the best! They picked us up from the airport and took us to a local grocery store on the way to the condo. They were there to help with whatever! We truly relaxed on this vacation just chilling on the beach! There was no restaurant on site or a store. There was the Bananna Cabanna! It was great for rum punch and mahi sandwiches for lunch on the beach. My son was hooked on the giant hot dogs and mango smoothies. There was a nice pool on the property but we only used it once. Who wants to go in a pool when you have the pristine waters of the carribbean right there.
Local restaurants in Red Hook were disappointing. The food was really good and not overly priced, but the service was terrible. Often times adding gratuity to checks and not telling you. Ride the dollar bus at the top of the hill if you go into Charlotte Amolie. A taxi will cost you $15 pp. The bus will cost $2 pp and it was fun. I would reccommend going to Mountaintop. The view was amazing and the shopping was good. Look for Gladys' Cafe in Charlotte Amolie for lunch. It was the best Carribbean food I have ever had. We took the ferry to St. John. It was beautiful! We went to Cinnamon Bay. The reef was clearly in distress but the beach was amazing. Shopping was great in Cruz Bay, very laid back with lots of local art and handmade gifts, not so touristy like Charlotte Amolie.
We came home with amazing photos and memories that will last a lifetime! My husband, my eight year old son and I had the time of our lives in St. Thomas! We will definately be back next summer!
Oh yeah, I would not reccommend flying Spirit Airlines. Lots of hidden costs and long layovers, even flying from FL.
