This 7,000 sq.ft. home has a 'Cook's Kitchen' and pantry which flow into the dining room, living room and library complex. The large office and laundry rooms lead to a 2 car+ garage with automatic doors, and 26 solar collectors beyond, heating all hot water, including pool. Think 'green.' You will love the rose garden in summer.

Interlochen is within the beautiful Grand Traverse, the vacation treasure of the Heartland. The Interlochen Center for the Arts, two minutes away, stages over 600 performances annually. Our home is positioned at the narrowest part of the isthmus, separating two crystal clear, spring-fed lakes. Over 30 golf courses and 20 vineyards are within a 25 mile radius. Traverse City, a cultural mecca, is 15 minutes to the NW and friendly Crystal Mountain (golf/skiing) is 15 minutes SW. Munson Medical Center west of TC is THE finest facility in Northern Michigan. In spring cherry blossoms flood the area and fall colors are sensational. This outstanding home is one-of-a-kind.

  • In summary, Between the Lakes is available during the summer weekly at $2,250 accommodating 12. Beginning in late August or early September it is available for $1,450 per month plus utilities. Interlochen Arts Academy parents or Interlochen faculty, staff or others welcome. This home is large enough to share. We make May 2010 rent free for full academic year rental. NP-NS.

Notes: This fully furnished home is ready for immediate occupancy for the 2009-10 academic year or for a longer duration. The owners live directly across Case Boulevard, which might be helpful in an emergency. The owners can be very helpful in the early weeks in area orientation and introducing the new renters to key sub-contractors. The home is ideal for entertaining with a very large deck as well as inside pool parties throughout the year. There are two community docks on Duck Lake just a short stroll away. Boats can be kept on either Duck or Green Lakes. The Interlochen State Park, one half block away, permits boat launching, but also has playgrounds for children and a lovely beach, for those who desire to swim and sunbath on sand.

Interlochen Center for the Arts: This institution is world-famous. Nearly 3,000 campers attend the summer Interlochen Arts Camp and 500 the academic Interlochen Arts Academy. These gifted students and campers come from nearly every state in the Union and over 20 countries. We thrive on their performances, attending as many as three per week. Our home is just two minutes from the campus or a leisurely 20 minute walk through rustic Interlochen State Park.

Duck and Green Lakes: The Odawa and Chippewa Indians frequented these two lakes, especially for fishing and clamming in the summer. They called Duck Lake 'Wahbekaness' meaning water still. Green Lake, connected to Duck by the Little Betsie River, was called 'Wahbekanetta' meaning water still again.

Traverse City State Theater: In late 2007, the 1917 Traverse City State Theater was renovated and reopened under the astute leadership of Michael Moore. It has become a classic on State Street in the heart of the downtown with quality films shown every day. In 2009 the fifth Traverse City Film Festival will be held in the State Theater, the Opera House and four other locations beginning July 28th. It draws people from all over and has become very successful.

Ski: Downhill and cross-country skiing are available in every direction from our home.

Golf: Golf courses in the Grand Traverse abound.
