San Francisco's Noe Valley is a destination neighborhood. Italian, Thai, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Middle Eastern and more restaurants, antique shops, boutiques, banks, hair stylists, nails, bookstores, imports and more within 3-10 minute walk. Nearby parks, tennis courts, swimming pool, comedy theater, movies. Downtown theaters, museums, shopping 20 minute streetcar ride away. Excellent public transportation to all points in the Bay Area, and Oakland and San Francisco airports. Wonderful references from past visitors. This is my home. Eight can comfortably sit at my dining room table to eat delivered or cooked-at-home meals. Comcast TV, stereo, classical, jazz, pop, folk CD collection. Comfortable living room to come home to.

This is one of the sunniest neighborhoods in SF. A feature essay on Noe Valley recently appeared in the AAA magazine. Week-end concerts are a five-minute walk away at Noe Valley Ministry. You could spend a week without leaving the neighborhood and still have more to do. Close to downtown/Union Square shopping, Golden Gate Park, beaches, zoo, Chinatown, theaters and more.

1 - 4 hour drives: From my home, you can drive 1 - 4 hours to the following: beautiful beaches, skiing at Lake Tahoe, Yosemite National Park, Muir Woods National Park (redwoods), Mt. Diablo, Mt. Tamalpias, Sea World, Sacramento (state capitol), wine country, Monterey Acquarium and more. Spend a week in SF without a car; spend a second week and rent a car for travel to these nearby destinations.

I'll help you learn the City and Region: I'm a native San Franciscan, and have lived in the Bay Area for 68 of my 72 years. At my house, you'll find maps, local walking tour guides, brochures, magazines and my own recommendations to help make your visit a memorable one. There is plenty of public transportation within 2 - 4 blocks of my house. You can get to almost anyplace in San Francisco in a maximum-45 minute ride, including: Golden Gate Park, ferry boat rides, downtown with its shopping, art galleries, theater, museums, restaurants and other sites. I also have recommendations for modestly priced restaurants to suit your taste. BART is the regional transit system that you can take from either Oakland or SF airport close to my house--within two blocks if you transfer to the 'J' streetcar. My associate and I will help you make this a trip to remember.

Some tourist advisories: -- If you want to go to Alcatraz, make your reservations long before coming otherwise space may not be available. -- Bring clothes you can wear in layers; it may be warm, cool or downright chilly and you can never predict which. -- If you're traveling on a budget, it's easy to have delicious dinner in a nearby restaurant for $15 or less.

Delightful, relaxing home-away-from-home

This home exceeded my expectations. I stayed for three nights with my 2 Godsons and their parents. Indeed there was plenty of room and bath facilities for the 5 of us (ages 18 to 61).
We could get anywhere in SF without a car. Easy access to J muni line and thus to all other public transportation, which was efficient, timely, and reasonably priced. Even easy to get to Oakland for baseball game!
The house is clean, and it is in a nice neighbourhood, and Mike even went to the trouble of listing restaurants and rating them in a special folder with maps, guides and other recommendations. Grocery and full service banks only 2 to 3 short blocks away.
Made this southerner's vacation all the more enjoyable...and what a fantastic price for such amenities and conveniences.
We also made use of the nice kitchen, as well, and the excellent television and internet service.
I could go on, but you get the picture! Owner(Mike) could not have been more friendly, helpful, or accommodating.
Would definitely stay here again should I get to make a repeat visit to SF.
