Newly built post & beam cottage with an open floor plan. Rough cut timbers and hardwood floors provide a very cozy cabin feel. Outside the property has a large open deck with a southern view of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. A short walk down to the shore provides water access for kayaking, and exploring Raccon Cove. The property is also centrally located in Lamione and is close to all of its amenities, just 1 1/2 miles from Marboro Beach, 1/2 mile from freshwater swimming at Bloomfield Park on Blunt's Pond, and 3 miles from Lamoine State Park, and Lamoine Beach. All saltwater sites provide boat access to Frenchman's Bay. If you like golfing, Bar Harbor Golf Course is only 5 minutes away. Both portions of Acadia, (Mount Desert Island and the Schoodic Pennisula), and Bar Harbor are within a 15-20 minute drive. The town of Ellsworth is within 10 mins for easy access to groceries, gift shops, restaurants, movies, and even LL. Bean.

For the adventurous a day trip up the coast to explore the quiet coastal vistas and quaint fishing villages is a wonderful way of seeing Down east, Maine at its best. If you want to stay close to home, Lamoine offers some of the best white sandy beaches in the region, with views of the coastal islands and mountains of Acadia.

A great home base near Acadia

This property is a great place to get away from it all. The "cottage" is very roomy, with an open floor plan. It's clean and has a well-equipped kitchen. The owners are very responsive to the needs of their guests. I especially enjoyed the hummingbird feeder hanging from the porch. We were able to get to Acadia/Bar Harbor in about 30-45 minutes, but also found that we could easily enjoy the other part of Acadia at Schoodic Point. We also enjoyed the sculpture tour, which starts in Southwest Harbor and ends in Millville. I would highly recommend this property.

Best vacation rental!!!

My family and I just got back from one of the best vacations ever. This home has everything you need and more. There were 7 of us and we never had any issues. The house is beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed coming back to rental each day after our day excursions. The pond down the road was great. The kids, my b/f and brother enjoyed canoeing and fishing. One day they even saw a Bald Eagle catching fish in the pond. The state beach is about 2 miles from the house and we enjoyed picnicing and relaxing on the shore. The ride to Bar Harbor only took us about 30-40 mins. which was great. I definately recommend this rental home to anyone. Beck was a pleasure to deal with. Thank you Becky & Nathan for letting us stay at your place. You definately have a piece of tranquility.

Quiet and relaxing!

This was a great house to rent. I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful and clean it was, as I don't think the photos here do it justice. In fact, the place looks slightly different in the photos, with different living room furniture and kitchen set-up in real life. Better in real life though! I would recommend to the owners to update the photos online.

I was happy with the owners customer service and I would always get a prompt reply whenever I emailed them with a question. The towels were some of the softest and luxurious I've ever used! We had 6 adults staying here and although using one bathroom between all of us was a bit tight, it was doable for one week. We used the gas grill to cook almost every day and I thoroughly enjoyed having my coffee each morning outside on the open deck.

The only thing that I was confused about is the "shore access." There is no direct shore access that you could walk to (at least none that I could see, nor was it made clear) unless you drive a few miles to the other side of Racoon Cove. We did not end up using the canoe, but there is indeed one there.

I would definitely rent this place again without a doubt and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good value in the Acadia area, but doesn't mind going the extra mile to get to/from MDI. Bar Harbor was a good 30 minute drive; Ellsworth shopping strip about 15 minutes. This is definitely one of the most beautiful regions of the U.S. and this rental provides a great base for exploring the area.

Great Place to Stay

My two teenagers and myself rented this cottage in August and it was fantastic. It is well equiped and very well maintained. The owners were fantastic. It is in a good location to go to many parts of the coast. We had a great time. I would recommend this rental to families with children. It is very peaceful.

Peaceful and reachable location

If you want a relaxing environment with access to multiple activities and the sense of secure isolation, this is the place!!. We rented this place for a week as a base for our coastal Maine family vacations (4 adults and 2 teenagers). The description in the web site sounded great and we were not disappointed (in reality it looks much better). The house is very well maintained and sparkling clean. It has all the commodities that you would like in a vacation place. I communicate with the owner a couple of times and I got a prompt and nice response. We cooked dinner some days and the kitchen was very well equipped plus a grill that works great. The property is centrally located with easy access to Acadia and Bar Harbor (20-25 min). The access to the North Coast area and to the Penobscot Bay is fast, and many shopping areas are easily found.
I would certainly recommend this house to anybody and if I decided to go back to the area I would certainly consider to rent it again.
The only potential problem for some families (even when it was not a problem for us), it is that the house has only one bathroom.
