If you travel to the beach, its important to be able to see the ocean as much as possible. This three year old house is over 2200 sq ft, with seven large picture windows looking out on to the ocean from about an elevation of about 150'. Whales, eagles, deer and numerous other bird species are commonly seen. Pacific City is famous for its Dory fleet which launch from the beach. Walking from the house to the beach takes about eight minutes on a semi private staircase and dune trail. One of the most desirable aspects of this home is watching sunsets from the great room. That's right, the sun sets into the ocean right in front of you. Another desirable aspect, but little thought about is, the house is out of the tsunami zone (yea). Within walking distance are areas of parasailing, horseback riding, fishing and the house is located on the ever popular Oregon Coast Bike Route. (yea again) Free WI-FI.

Enjoy It!

We were at the end of a hectic 9 day trip to Seattle and Portland and needed a break. We arrived at the house and wow! A great view of the ocean and plenty of space for the adults and grandchildren to relax and have their "space".

Most importantly, we felt like we were welcome. Plenty of things to enjoy and signs saying "enjoy" and Herb and Beverly meant it. So, we enjoyed the house, enjoyed the beach, and enjoyed the town.

We were able to fly back home after a very enjoyable time, but a wonderful time to relax. We are definitely going to go back and base a vacation from Herb and Beverly's wonderful place.

Go and enjoy it. You will!

Amazing!

This place is incredible! A beautifully appointed home, that is incredibly comfortable. The Sandcastle is so peaceful, with many places (the chaise lounge; the back deck; the hot tub) to kick back with a glass of Oregon wine and just relax. The ocean is just a short walk over the dunes and Cape Kiwanda is a 1/2 mile walk. Don't forget to hit the Pelican Pub when your in town (great food and beers!). Thank you Herb and Beverly sharing your wonderful home. We definitely plan on making it back!

Romantic Anniversary

What a quiet peaceful setting. We spent 4 days just kicking back and enjoying this place. Centrally located on the coast. There are many things to see and do within 1 hour north and south of here. Pacific City is not busy. It is a quaint personal little town. The views are to die for. What Herb hasn't told you is that the property is literally to the immediate north of Cape Kiwanda. We will be going back. The home was very clean and contemporary. It was easy to be here. Thanks Herb!

We just returned from our wonderful 3 day weekend at this lovely piece of paradise. The pictures and comments were what made our decision to stay here. As soon we arrived and saw the view and home we knew we had made a great choice. The view is amazing and the beach access was perfect for our 3 small children. Our 6 year old asked us "can we come back and stay again". Our only response was a definite YES!
On our last evening there we were walking back to the house (after watching an amazing sunset) and on the trail were 3 deer. What a wonderful place. We are already checking our calendar to see when we can return, only this time it's going to be longer than 3 days!

As return guests, we found the property even more gorgeous in winter than summer. Whether it rains or "suns," the Sandcastle is a haven unlike any other.
Perfect for dogs as well--given the fenced-in property, we don't have to leash them every time they need to take a potty break. (Don't forget to clean up!)
Wonderful owners, too!
We've been up and down the coast, and this is our very favorite place.
