Never again!
Review Submitted: June 26, 2009

This rental house has a nice panorama of the hill and water, but the owners live on site!!! They give us "Rules & Regulation" for the use of THEIR HOUSE! We could not use the balconies when we wanted, because they have an alarm system and want to use it! The house is decorated with their family photos & kitch paintings, but the view is nice! We felt like school children under the adult supervision!!! My husband asked if we will be "grounded" if we do not follow their "Rules and regulations"...We will not rent this villa again! The near by hotels cost about 50 euro (ex. Alexander) & do not "keep an eye" on you...you will fill free to come and go as you will please.
Owner's Response: We invite the reader to be fair here. We believe this review to be totally unfair. The guests claim that they were surprised that “the owners live on site ! ! !”
But our website states clearly:
“You will occupy the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Villa. Your host occupies the ground floor of the villa.”
So should it have been any surprise that we live on the premises?!
The “Rules and Regulations” referred to by the guest is in reality a welcoming letter for all guests that begins. . .
“To our guests:
"To make your stay at the Villa as enjoyable as possible, we ask you to read the following information:”
Of course that letter does indeed include very strict rules about smoking on the premises. We also did provide our guests clear instructions, including a security code, on how to disarm the security system during the hours of 1 a.m. to 7 a.m., so they could open the doors to the verandas (where smoking was permissible). According to our records, the alarm system was never disarmed during their stay. We don't know why.
In any event we regard our instructions about smoking indoors and the security system to be important and reasonable, and designed in fact to protect not just us, but the guests as well..
As the guest accurately reported, the husband on the second day of the visit did in fact ask if they would be "grounded" if they violated the non-smoking ban. We regrettably assumed he was joking with us, and we laughed along with him, acknowledging the joke. We now understand that this was intended as a serious comment.
As for “kitsch” paintings, the reader will be interested to know that many of them are by one particular Spanish artist named Ruiz, whose works have been featured prominently on TV shows in the United States. These paintings today command a high price in the art market. We admittedly have no Rembrandts.
Regarding photos of our daughter around the villa, we plead guilty! We make no excuses for displaying them, and certainly see no reason to hide them when a guest rents the Villa.
We invite the reader to compare this guest’s review with the many strong recommendations stated in the reviews of other highly satisfied guests, and to make an independent judgment.
