Dubrovnik holiday

This is a beautiful house which has been tastefully modernised, and is situated on an idyllic island. We had a wonderful holiday but there were three issues that affected our stay. Firstly, we rented the whole house as we were three families and, as such, we expected to have the villa and garden to ourselves. However, as the maid was on site most of the time (actually sleeping in the laundry room) privacy was a problem. Indeed, the first night the owner asked if she, herself, could sleep in the ground floor sitting room overnight, which we agreed to in order to maintain good relations, but in hindsight it was a wrong decision. I would strongly recommend to future renters that they lay down their ground rules on arrival, then all should be well.
Also, in the house description it says "air conditioning", but there wasn't any in one of the bedrooms on the ground floor. It also says "internet access", and whilst not everyone wants this, our party included 3 teenage boys (who seem to be unable to function without it) and, at the end of our stay, we discovered that using the internet at the villa was not free, and we were landed with a hefty bill.
Having said that, the owner was very friendly and helpful, and even arranged a fantastic sunset catamaran trip for us - which was the highlight of the visit!
In my opinion this villa is an excellent holiday house but just be aware of these potential problems before you rent it!
