Front of house is lined with glass sliders for beautiful views of the lake from both levels. House is located in a private lake community with ample parking.

great cozy escape from the city

We had a great time on the lake, the house was very clean, great location close to the marina with the boat rental options. Got our security deposit back in the timely matter, very pleasant stay.
Owner's Response: We do our best to make everything as comfortable as possible. I am a business traveler and spend a lot of time in hotels. I understand that it is the little things that make for a pleasant stay. That is why I try to think of what I would like if I were staying here. Comfortable sleeping conditions, well cleaned and disinfected rooms, and most important is a well equipped kitchen, so you can easily make any cuisine. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy! Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It was a pleasure having you as our guest.

What a nice surprise so close to NYC!!

Our family had a wonderful stay at Candlewood lake this August. The cottage is cozy, clean and very well-equipped. It was very easy to rent a boat, and really enjoy all the watersports - tubing, waterskiing, and waterboarding. The rope swing further down the lake was quite an adventure, too. It was very easy to get to town for groceries etc. We were so busy at the lake, that we didn't get in to do the bowling, movie watching, or eating out which would have been easy and conveniently located close by. The owners were very helpful and accomodating, and we would definitely rent here again, and recommend it to others.

The Most Relaxing Vacation

The house had all the amenities contained in the listing's description. It was clean inside and out was well maintained. We had all the comforts of home combined with the luxury of the lakefront property. The water was terrific, with the ease of accessibility being a huge benefit. The lakeside decks, screened in porch, and the views of the lake from the front of the house were very relaxing. Preparing meals on the propane grill was an added bonus. We appreciated the binder provided by Mary and Sven which contained instructions on how to use the appliances, electronic equipment, etc., as well as restaurants and places of interest. Renting a boat from the nearby marina was a pleasant experience; the lake is beautiful. We look forward to returning next summer!

Time away at the lake

This house was the perfect setting for our 'down time' at Candlewood Lake - very inviting, clean, everything on hand. Stores and restaurants are minutes away and New Milford gives you easy access to other quaint areas such as Roxbury or Kent.
We loved having the dock in our back yard and particularly enjoyed the benefits of a boat rental and were surprised at how large the lake really was!
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lake house to other families, small or large.

our first lake vacation

a gorgeous view, we loved the dock and all the decks (open and screened in). My husband also enjoyedthe hammock immensely. Having never been to a lake - the location was great...very quiet but at the same time boat rentals, tubing, water skiing, kayaking were all available right on our lake - and of course jumping in right off the dock. The pictures on the site accurately reflect what the rooms look like. Recommend for a family. Also any questions Mary is readily available to answer..Barbequed most nights but otherwise enjoyed meals at The Cookhouse (bbq) Joey's Seafood (the lobster bisque is delicious) in New Milford and Fife and Drum in Kent.(live piano music at 7pm) Perfect family time including board games, cards, a 1000 piece puzzle and hiking the lovely Kent Falls. As someone who has always gone to a beach - I strongly suggest trying a lake for a change!
