This is a lovely, newly renovated studio apartment located in the very desirable Chelsea area of downtown Manhattan. Right in the middle of everything, yet on one of the quietest blocks in Manhattan, across the street from the grounds and gardens of the General Theological Seminary. Walk to Greenwich Village, Midtown, Hudson River. Six subway lines within a 5-10 minute walk. Chelsea has it all -- restaurants, shopping, parks, famous Chelsea Piers - and a great neighborhood feel. The apartment itself is a lovely English basement style apartment, meaning it has full-size windows, and is located half-a-story down from street level, via a set of wrought iron stairs. There is a queen size bed, a new couch that folds out to another queen size bed, a full bath with shower (no tub), dining area, and efficiency kitchen with sink, apartment-size fridge, gas two-burner cooktop, and small toaster/convection oven. Entire apartment just renovated, including new bath, carpet, paint, lighting.

Chelsea is in the heart of downtown Manhattan. You can easily walk to Greenwich Village, Soho, and Midtown. There are six subway lines within a short walk, so you can get anywhere quickly and easily. Chelsea is known for it's art galleries, 'people watching', restaurants, shopping, the Chelsea Market, and the Chelsea Piers area. You are only two blocks from the Hudson River, where there is a lovely walking and bike path you can take all the way down to the lower tip of Manhattan Island (and then maybe catch the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island Ferry?). Chelsea is a tree-lined, quiet neighborhood that has a real neighborhood feel lacking in most other parts of the city. Enjoy!

Additional information about rental rates

  • All renters must be 25 years or older (only exception is a child staying with parents/guardian).
  • **$10 additional per person, per night for 3rd person. 3 person maximum.
    **All rentals require a $300 refundable security deposit.
    **Rentals of less than five nights will incur a $70 cleaning fee.
  • 50% deposit of rental total is required at time of booking.
    Remaining 50%, plus $300 security deposit, is due 10 days prior to arrival.

    Cancellations made 60 or more days in advance receive full refund minus first night's rental charges.
    Cancellations made 30-60 days in advance forfeit the 50% deposit.
    Reservations canceled less than 30 days in advance are non-refundable.

Great base for a visit to NYC

This apartment is really great for a visit to Manhattan. It's really spacious, there's loads of room for the bed, sofa/TV area and dining area. The kitchen area and bathroom are all good too, everything is very clean and new.
The area is great as a base, it's a lovely, leafy Chelsea street with shops, cafes etc round the corner in this relaxed area. There's still some hustle and bustle, so you get a real taste of NY life here.
You can easily walk to Greenwich Village from here too and the subway is close by.
There's a lovely patisserie on the corner of the street too and there are quite a few good places to eat a block away at 8th Ave.
The construction work across the street was no problem, they work during normal work hours which is fair enough.
Marion was very helpful and I highly recommend this place to anyone planning a visit to NY.

A real taste of NYC life!

We stayed for two weeks in September 2008 and it was fabulous. Location is great, very central for sightseeing but far enough away from the real tourist areas so that you get a real NYC experience. We felt so safe being out and about later at night also. Lots of restaurants and cafes to visit as well as a few supermarkets and convenience stores.

Marion was super helpful and very friendly. As mentioned by others there is construction work across the road but it wasn't anything that a couple of earplugs couldn't solve! Besides when you're sight seeing you want to be up and out and about to soak up all you can from the city.

Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to family and friends. Thanks Marion!

Lovely apartment in a great location

The apartment was brilliant - awesome location and very clean with all you need in the apartment for a home away from home. Owner was away but ensured full refund of deposit was back with me early morning on day of departure and called to ensure I received it. My mum and I enjoyed our stay and my brother who was staying in a hostel uptown regretted not having the same idea of renting an apartment (and at a cheaper rate!!). One minor hiccup in that there is apartments going up across the road with work starting at 7am throughout the week so not really able to sleep past then.

Excellent Chelsea living

We were thoroughly delighted with this property. It's a great intro into city living and is in the best area if you spend a lot of time in Chelsea. Everything was clean and the owner is an absolute joy to meet and deal with. I've already scheduled my next visit and look forward to many more.

This apartment was great. It looked just like the pictures. It was clean and spacious. The owners were wonderful to work with and always responded promptly with ample information. The apartment is near the police station and the neighborhood is beautiful to walk around. I would absolutely love to stay there again!
