The condo is custom-designed by the owners. It is furnished just the way you'd furnish your home—no “cheap beach” feel anywhere: we mean great mattresses, plantation shutters and appealing artwork and objects throughout. Airy and light-filled, it has spectacular views pictures can only suggest. Be assured that the living room, dining room, kitchen, master bedroom (we call it 'Seaview'), and the western guest room (called 'Folly'), all have ocean views. But 'Quartet' bedroom is not slighted; its bay window overlooks the pool area, the charming First Baptist Church across street, and up-island to the north. The owners named their bedrooms for the three original cottages that once occupied the exact spot as the brand new, 11-unit Seaview condominium. (Lots of history there the Hurts could tell you about...if you’ll lay on dinner!) The old cottages may be gone but not the breathtaking views and great location, with the same handy beach access directly across the way (see picture).
St. Simon’s Village is a quick 5-10 minute walk west via a quiet, tree-lined street, or stroll on the sandy beach. This quaint locale bustles with shops, restaurants and activities on the Pier. Should you walk east, in the other direction, you'll come to the King and Prince Hotel, which has a great restaurant and Starbucks, Ocean Motion clothing shop and bike rentals, Crabdaddy and Chelsea bistros, gift shops, and the island’s old Coast Guard station. Consider the little things also: cable, of course, in all bedrooms, HDTV in the living room/master bedroom and built-in DVD players throughout. You might want to bring the family pet, our beach chairs are yours to enjoy, and you are hooked into the world via wireless high speed Internet. There are lovely area rugs but no wall-to-wall carpet that may cause problems for allergy-sufferers. We feel that the small amenities in a vacation home make a huge difference.
Our biggest fear may be that you’ll come, and then want to stay on in our condo when your vacation is over! Just imagine a vacation where you could relax and even do nothing but sit in the living room, watch the lighthouse light make its circular journey at night, or during the day monitor big cargo vessels going in and out of Brunswick port and the many fishing boats chugging up and down the channel. If you are new to the St. Simon's Island area, you are in for a treat. If you are returning, then you already feel the spell of its understated magic, historical appeal, and quiet beauty. Then, there is our second-to-none housekeeper (she also will be available to baby sit if you wish) and maintenance service, both only a phone call away (a phone number we will give you before your visit).
Golf:
Enough golf courses so that you never have to play the same one twice and don’t forget kayaking, tennis, bike trails, and the numerous other tourist attractions. Drive to Jekyll over a causeway to tour the Millionaires’ Club and Cottages, or hike onto Cumberland via a short, fun ferry ride from St. Mary’s in Camden County. The old adage is certainly true in this case--location, location, location. No, this is not the Hamptons; we think it is much better, and far less crowded. To us the Golden Isles of which St Simons is part is magical, evoked not only in Eugenia Price novels but Sidney Lanier’s ode, “The Marshes of Glynn.” The Golden Isles also includes Sea Islands, Jekyll (of the Millionaires’ Clubhouse and Hotel fame), Cumberland, Sapelo, and Little St. Simon’s. Fish off the pier in the Village (south end), or Hampton Point (north end), or your choice of sailing vessels (many for hire around here).
