Winner of the 2008 Heritage Restoration Preservation Award, only 8 minutes to Baltimore City, BWI airport and 35 minutes to Washington, DC. Ours is an historic, pet-friendly and green property! Built as a guest house from materials taken from the 18th century sailing ship, the Somerset, this comfortable retreat property offers two levels, with a first floor bedroom. Other rooms include a completely renovated kitchen, bath, great room, breakfast room, and 2nd floor loft (lots of space for kids) runs entire length of the house built from rare California Redwood. Look out from your front window to view an English formal garden and watch the sun set over the Patapsco River Valley. Numerous gardens, orchard and vineyards surround the wooded 4 acre, very private property. Sit out on the back deck to see the forest and streams that run below. Truly a place to relax and renew. Had a great time. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. Property owners very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed sitting outside looking at all the trees & birds along with the beautiful flower gardens. The large hot tub was great! Within walking distance of a well maintained State Park that had great walking & biking trails.

Nice Early Spring Stay

My family of six enjoyed an early spring stay at Avalon this April. We found the property comfortable, clean and relaxing. Owners were very kind and hospitable. We expecially enjoyed the pool spa for relaxation. The nearby Avalon park afforded our family enjoyable family-bonding walks. AND, our pet cockapoo, Lucky, was very pleased with the total environment. (The host's dog treats helped his opinion.)
