Beautiful view of the lake from the living and the upstairs master suite. Modern kitchen with a large table that seats 8. Washer and dryer available. Walking distances to boat launch for kayaks, canoes, and power boats. Town beach is located at the north end of the lake (approx. 1 mile) and next the beach is a boat dock available for your use. Enjoy the nature of the Adirondacks with all the conveniences of home.

Wells is a small quaint town with a homey atmosphere. There are two convenience stores with gas as well as a couple nice restaurants. During the summer months, the town has an assortment of activities including Old Homes Days, garage sale weekend and Saturday evening concerts. There are numerous activities to do within an hours drive including the Adirondack Museum, North Creek Railroad and Great Camp Sagamore.

The summer season provides swimming, boating, water skiing, jet skiing, hiking, carnivals, craft shows, golf, tennis, and biking. Day trips to the Adirondacks Museum (ranked one of the top 10 museums in the country), Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame, Soccer Hall of Fame, horse racing in Saratoga, rafting/canoe trips, and outlet shopping in Lake George. The fall foliage is something that can't be missed and the perfect opportunity for some amazing pictures. With winter comes downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Oak Mountain Ski Resort is just a 10 minute drive and the perfect place for learning to ski. No crowds! If you're a competitive skier, Gore Mountain is only a 35 minute drive, and Lake Placid will really test your skills (two hour drive). Cross country skiing is available on the local hiking trails or at nearby Lapland.

Modern Cottage

Overall, we had a good vacation at this cottage but there were a couple things that were distracting that kept it from being "excellent." Those were:
Appliances - The refrigerator was a little loud, the dishwasher did not clean thoroughly...had to rinse dishes real well...and the dryer did not dry too well. The garage door opener was very slow.
Doors - They were a little tricky to lock

However, these were just small distractions. The home was beautiful, the community was nice, the beds were very comfortable and the showers were wonderful.

The owners of the home were extremely nice people and made sure that we had as good of time as we could have. They were top notch people. The house was spotlessly clean when we arrived.

As far as the town of Wells was concerned, it seemed more suited to people who wanted to slow down and relax. Lake Algonquin was a little too small to spend a day on the water, but it was a pretty lake. However we ended up spending most of our time in Speculator and the lakes in that area than in Wells.
