Casa Playa Hermosa - a unique craftsman style home owned by one of Hermosa Beach’s local artists, is on the sand in the finest area of Hermosa offering luxury, privacy, relaxation. The Vibe is Zen - calm and relaxing energy. This original beach house meets craftsman lodge is an updated historic two story only one house from the Strand and 50 feet from the beach. This dynamite location is the best in Hermosa and offers breath-taking views on a lesser populated beachfront. Classic architecture and original artwork bring unique character and charm amidst its comfy, tasteful decor. A front yard and patio have a spectacular view of the ocean and an enclosed back yard offers privacy with a BBQ and seating for entertaining. House has just recently been remodeled with a new downstairs bathroom and an extra bedroom with a loft that has 2 full beds to sleep 2-4 for an additional charge. This gives the house 4 bedrooms for more privacy and space. Just added -- Brand New Kitchen and Dining Room.

Convenience describes this centrally located beach home. Surf or play beach volleyball a few steps away. Ride bikes and other beach toys. Walk a block to two of Hermosa’s famous restaurants and the local Green Store. Take a ten minute walk north along the beach to even more restaurants or south to the historic Hermosa Pier with its surf and volleyball culture, art galleries, the Plaza shops and diverse restaurants for tons of fun. CFor entertainment, experience events such as the AVP season kick-off in June, many street fairs (the largest being held on Memorial and Labor Day week-ends), art walks and free outdoor beach concerts at the pier on many weekends. Watch comics such as Jay Leno, Tim Allen, George Carlin and Ray Romano stand up at famous Comedy and Magic Club. So centrally located that a car is not needed to create a relaxing vacation. All famous visitor attractions i,e. Disneyland, Santa Monica, Hollywood, water parks and Donald Trump golf course within a 15 - 30 minute drive.

  • Upstairs there are 2 newly remodeled stone and honed marble spa bathrooms, one with a Jacuzzi tub and skylight. The newly remodeled pebble rock master bath has a combined dressing room. A downstairs bathroom as well as an outdoor shower are convenient for guests when returning from a day at the beach. Brand NEW LARGE KITCHEN was just renovated with travertine tile, ceasarstone, new cabinets and appliances maintaining the integrity of the original house. It creates a huge workable space for large families. The kitchen is fully equipped.

  • Downstairs has a very old world charm mixed with Bali beach atmosphere. Sun warms the front sitting room which overlooks the beach. There are 2 large couches - one Tommy Bahama and the other red suede. The large throw rugs are designed after Gustav Klimt. The rooms are wood, stone, and Raffi woven. Paintings sit on most of the walls. The original wood floors have been refinished. There is a stereo and a 42' flat screen TV. Upstairs has 3 over sized, spacious and comfortable bedrooms, one with a walk-in closet /master bathroom. Both are bright and airy with ocean views. One bedroom with an ocean view has a King bed, one bedroom is a very over sized SUITE with a King and 2 single beds and the third has a Queen. All have a calm, relaxing, spacious, artistic vibe. New eco carpet was just installed. There are a total of 4 flat screen HDTVs between 32' and 42' with DVR. The fourth bedroom separate and downstairs has 2 Full beds to sleep 4. There are 3 newly remodeled spa style bathrooms.

Famous Hermosa Beach is 30 minutes from downtown LA and 15 minutes south of LAX. Disneyland, Magic Mountain, and other Los Angeles attractions are within 30 minutes to one hour. Whale watching, sailing, and pier fishing are 5 minutes away from Casa Playa Hermosa. Famous art theatre and shows are held every summer in Laguna Beach. Los Angeles has many free cultural art and music events to include free jazz on Friday nights at LACMA and outdoor DJ at MOCA.

Golf: Donal Trump and Los Verdes golf courses are along the coast 15 minutes away. For the avid golfer there are many other courses available.

We had a fantastic time here - the location is perfect; just steps to the beach, walking distance to many restaurants and amenities, yet quite private and quiet. Melody was so helpful and provided everything we might need to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. We all loved it - from our 15 year old daughter to her 85 year old grandfather - perfect for everyone. We would come again and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Relaxing Family Vacation

We stayed in Melody's beach house for a week in July. Melody was a great hostess, setting us up with bikes for the whole family, including one with training wheels for a preschooler and one with a baby seat for a toddler. She also made sure that we had sand toys, so that we didn't have to cart them with us. The home itself was perfect! Big enough for everyone to have a space, and cozy enough to feel like home. The kitchen is very spacious, which was great for big meals. The location of the house on the walk street couldn't be better! We were close enough to the beach to see the kids playing volleyball, but far enough from prying eyes. Also, the walk street was perfect for our young boys to race up and down with their scooters and bikes. The surf at this location is great for kids, gentle enough for our preteens to romp and body surf. However, not really great surfing waves, although we did go out each day to see what it offered. Morning jogs and swims were great to return to the front of the house and have coffee. 20th Street is close to the Green Store, for quick groceries, and a nice walk to the pier for dining options. Overall, we truly enjoyed our week! Thanks Melody!

UCLA Graduation Celebration

Everything it claimed to be and more! Some rental property’s amenities do not quite live up to their description or pictures on the web. An “ocean view” or “short walking distance” is sometimes a stretch of the imagination. Casa Hermosa was far better than we could have dreamed!

We rented the house for my Daughter’s college graduation. The location was perfect. Literally steps away from miles of white sand beach and very close to the Hermosa Pier, shops, and restaurants. My parents, who are in their late 70’s, had no problem walking to the pier and back several times a day. I actually liked the fact that it was set back a short way from the strand, where there can be a lot of foot traffic, bicycles, dogs, and noise.

We had unobstructed views of the beach and ocean from several rooms and the front patio. There were plenty of bikes, beach chairs, beach towels, etc., even a surf board! I especially liked having off street parking. We were able to fit 3 large vehicles and did not have to worry about finding street parking and constantly paying the parking meters.

The house was absolutely beautiful with fine furnishings and original artwork and well equipped with every modern convenience. There were 10 of us, in addition to friends who joined us over the weekend to BBQ, and it was never cramped. The house was spacious and there were so many comfortable sofas, nooks, and crannies where you could lounge, nap, or read that some of us never made it to the beach!

We had friends staying in a nearby hotel who did not get much sleep because their bed was so uncomfortable. When I gave them a tour of the house, they laid on each bed saying that each one was more comfortable than the last. They wished they had stayed with us instead. Not to mention wide screen TV’s in every room and wireless internet for those of us that have to be connected.

The property has a very relaxed atmosphere and we felt very much at home during our stay. I look forward to another stay and would highly recommend it to others.

we felt totally refreshed and complete after a week in this home. the location is actually better than being right on the strand, some privacy and quiet with an excellent view of the beach from a wonderful window seat - only steps away from the sand and surf. the parking for three cars is a big plus, this is often a headache at other rentals in the area. We totally enjoyed the outside shower after our daily boogy boarding in the surf. We also rode the bikes everyday. Inside the home you felt like you had entered an art gallery with comfort being the top priority - the beautiful rugs, art, decor, etc added to a great stay.

USC graduation celebration

We decided to celebrate our sons' college graduation spending the weekend at the beach near the university. We couldn't have made a better choice! The owner, Melody, is a dear, and goes out of her way to make her guests' stay special. The location is absolutely ideal, literally steps to the sand. The house is comfortable, convenient, well-equiped and felt like home - it was our home-base and extended family and friends came to cook & share meals and visit, go to the beach, ride bikes, take a walk, play volleyball, play board games or cards, read, shop, watch the sunset and just generally relax and celebrate this occasion! Our only complaint is, that it went by too fast... We all look forward to being able to get back there again very soon!
