My family and I stayed in this newly redecorated unit in July 2009. The beds and linens are new and upscale. The appliances and kitchen items were top quality as was the beautiful furniture. The swimming pool area saved the day as the beach was buggy and stinky. Definitely get the golf cart, we had lots of fun riding around the complex! The people were all so friendly and we had a great time meeting families from all over (especially our new Scottland friends!). The bathrooms could stand to be updated next and I think the cleaning service could have done a better job, but all in all the pictures and description are accurate.
I would skip Sundowners for dinner and just go for a drink if you want to see the sunset. It was our most expensive and least liked restaurant. For a great casual meal, try Sharkey's (the Baja Fish Taco's are to die for!!).
My husband and son did a lot of diving with Horizon Divers and enjoyed every minute.
If you get to Islamorada, go to Ma's Fish Camp for a fantastic lunch.
Most important, if you go in the summer expect the pool and ocean temperatures to be in the 90's!!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your response. We are so happy you enjoyed your time. One of our attractions to the Kawama complex was the fact that we would have the choice of the beach or the pool, which can be helpful as you discovered. We use the beach often, but the pool is very close and always a pleasure. The tenant prior to your arrival ended up departed late, therefore my cleaning agent was not provided with the normal time frame required for our standard guest preparation. Because of this, I have added one hour to the check out and arrival time window, so this will not happen in the future.
