My family and I took a chance on booking a cabin sight-unseen on short notice after our beach vacation was canceled by Hurricane Dolly. However, the property manager was helpful and patient with all my questions and made booking our reservation easy and painless. Upon arrival at the cabin, we were floored by the quiet, secluded, and absolutely beautiful location overlooking a small valley and lake. The surrounding cabins are beautiful and distant enough to provide a sense of privacy. The cabin itself was comfortable and nicely decorated with all the comforts of home. The hot tub on the deck was great for relaxing after hiking, and the wood-burning stove and plentiful supply of wood added to the ambiance. Our cabin was well supplied with necessary items including the kitchen and it was clean and well maintained. The hummingbirds frequenting the feeders front and back provided constant entertainment and awesome photo opportunities, as did the lovely scenery. The aspens all around the cabin are beautiful, and we even saw the most incredibly vivid late-afternoon rainbow from the back deck. There was easy hiking/climbing right around the cabin for our 2 boys (ages 6 & 10) and our border collie, but they often stayed indoors watching cartoons on the satellite TV or playing on their PS2 on the plasma screen TV in the master bedroom. The cabin had a telephone and calls to Colorado Springs were local, so we were also able to use the phone line for a dial up internet connection. The cabin is centrally located and so convenient with good roads all around. It’s close to Woodland Park so we did all our grocery shopping there on the way to the cabin. We drove 11-mile canyon to hike and later we visited the Florissant Fossil Beds, hiked along a creek to the falls (off Guffey Rd just 2.7 miles west of CR-11) and later that day visited Cripple Creek and enjoyed shopping and dinner there. We saw more wildlife (deer, antelope, eagles, etc.) on that drive than my family has ever seen. This cabin was like home away from home for all of us, making this a truly relaxing vacation that we will never forget. If you're looking for a comfy, quiet and serene place to relax and unwind, this is the perfect place to stay!
