Very relaxing and affordable summer vacation spot! This large, circa 1900, pet friendly family retreat is located only 65 miles from Washington, DC and 70 miles from Richmond, VA. This one-time boarding house has 7 bedrooms (one is used as a den) and 4 full baths (one with a clawfoot tub). Large, open kitchen with island seating and dining table. Family room with TV, satellite (HBO) and DVD player. The house is about 100 yards from a sand beach and swimming on the Potomac River. Large screened porch in the front and large open deck in the rear. Huge yard with play area for kids. House is fully equipped with a full kitchen, linens, washer/dryer and a kid's playroom. No smoking allowed.

Colonial Beach House

We had 14 people staying in the house for the week. There was plenty of room. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. The beach was just a short walk away. The house has inflatable tubes and a chair for the water. We used them every day. There was also sand pails and shovels for the kids. The house also had lots of toys and books for the kids. We didn't want to leave. I would recommend this house to people with children. I would love to go back.

Wonderful Family House

This wonderful warm house held 6 families (11 adults, 6 toddlers, and 2 babies) for a long weekend! The big hits were the roominess, toys, a well stocked kitchen, plenty of bathrooms, plus more amenities! The other huge draw is the beach's proximity. Aside from the beach, the kids loved the playground near Nancy's Ice Cream Shoppe. We all had a fanastic time and look forward to returning! Thank you, Sean and Morna.

Great family gathering place!

We had our family gathering and kids' birthday party at the house. It was very safe and lovely. The beach is so close, we rented a golf cart and the house is perfect to have quiet time and big-family time. It has all the ingredients for a perfect family week: space, comfort, amenities and a touch of solitude (if you decide to). We gave it a serious thumbs up!

The house is really huge and well divided. Lots of rooms for a big family AND their friends. THe garden has great space and lots of toys and playroom for kids all ages. We had no trouble finding it, everything was as promised and the best, it was very close to the cutest beach ever. We are definitely coming back.

We just returned from a great vacation in this home- and truly did not want to leave. Extremely spacious (held 14 people and still had plenty of extra space), relaxing home within walking distance to the beach and the main town. Had everything you could ask for in a vacation rental- plenty of linens and towels, dishes, pots and pans- the home is fully stocked. Perfect for large families and families with children. We will absolutely be back!
