Located in the 11th arrondissement, this modern 40 sq. meter (430 sq.feet) 1 bedroom apartment sleeps 2-4 comfortably. It is on the 4th floor of a newly constructed building on rue des Taillandiers, a quiet street located 5 minutes walking from Place de la Bastille. The apartment is fully furnished and equipped with a queen size bed, a sofa-bed, a chair that folds out into a single bed, TV, DVD player (permitting use of both European and US format DVDs), unlimited high speed internet connection, wifi, free phone calls to fixed lines in France and to most International locations (United States included), fully equipped kitchen (with refrigerator, dishwasher, oven/microwave), washing machine, dryer, dining table and 4 chairs, and a desk. Also provided: bed linens, pillows, towels, kitchen utensils, cookware, hairdryer, iron, toaster, and coffee maker. The bedroom is separated from the living room/kitchen area by a sliding door. The building has a security code, intercom, and an elevator.

The apartment is located on rue des Taillandiers, a quiet side street located between rue de la Roquette and rue de Charonne, 5 minutes walking Place de la Bastille. The Bastille area is known for its trendy bars, restaurants and stores. The Opera National de Paris - Bastille, is a modern opera house inaugurated for the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution. Every Thursday and Sunday morning starting from the place de la Bastille and extending up blvd Richard Lenoir there is a typical Parisian outdoor food market that shouldn’t be missed. The apartment is an easy 10 minute walk from the well known Place des Vosges and the historic Marais quarter (4th Arrondissement). The apartment is well connected by metro to most of the main tourist sites and train stations given its proximity to the Bastille and Voltaire Metro stations. Five minutes walking from subway lines: 1, 5, 8 and 9.

Notes: The kitchen is fully equipped and has a combined microwave & oven, a three quarter size refrigerator with an internal freezer box, an induction stove-top with 4 burners (heats up very quickly), a toaster, a coffee machine, and an electric hot water heater. In addition to pots, pans and other cookware and cooking utensils, a setting of six is provided for silverware, glasses, plates and bowls. For those traveling with computers, a high speed broadband internet access is available in the apartment. In the case that you will not be traveling with your computer but would like to access internet in the apartment, a laptop computer can be made available to you for use in the apartment during your stay for an additional cash security deposit of Euro 250. There is an ipod docking station with speakers so that you can hook up your ipod and listen to music in the apartment.

Fabulous place, wonderful owners, perfect location

My mom and I came here for a week in October (I'm a 26 yr old female), and we cannot say enough wonderful things about our trip, owed largely in part to the location/apt and of course the fact that we were on vacation in Paris. We prefer to be more immersed in the local culture, as well as have a fridge and option to cook, and this was the perfect fit for us.

The apartment - State of the art appliances, spacious, fabulous shower/utilities, spotless, comfy bed, & a dvd player (with dvd's in english to borrow from Rachel & Xavier), among other things. Rachel & Xavier are incredibly friendly, accommodating, and answered our many questions as well as gave us recommendations. The apt also has guidebooks, maps, and a binder w/local restaurants/cafes/shops.

The location - Quiet street just off a busier road that has grocery stores, cafes, creperies, bakeries, and other shops w/in a 3 minute walk. 5 minutes from 2 different Metro stations, bus stops, and a taxi stand. Easily walkable to Ile St-Louis and the Marais, which were two favorite areas to get lost wandering around.

We discovered an area w/great local boutiques a block from the place, and enjoyed many, many hours sitting outside watching the locals while sipping vin blanc or espresso. Place de bastille (5 min walk) has a wonderful market on thurs/sun as well. Check out le bar a soupes, a p'tit cahoua (Moroccan restaurant across the street), cafe de angels for a 'burger', and the creperie stand on rue de la Roquette.

My mom and I had such an amazing time, are very sad to be home, and are so grateful to Rachel & Xavier for their hospitality!

Apartment in Bastille

Three of us stayed at this wonderful apartment in Bastille for 1 week. It is bright, modern and located in the trendy and central Bastille area for easy access to the Palais Royal and traditional French dinners at restaurants along rue petits champs; the local flea and food markets at place d'Aligre and the marche Bastille; the Marais; the Louvre; the musee de l'orangerie to see Monet's water lillies and coffee and pasteries on rue Montorgueil or local dinners in the Bastille itself, such as at Le Pure Cafe (which featured in Julie Delpy's film "Before Sunset"). We highly recommend this apartment and will definitely rent it out for future visits to Paris. Many thanks to Rachel for her hospitality!

Wonderful Home Away From Home

I just stayed in this apartment for 5 nights. There were 3 of us staying in the apartment and all of us could not have been happier. First off, Rachel (the owner) was wonderful. She greeted us on the day we arrived and was beyond helpful (she has guidebooks, walking tours, and restaurant suggestions waiting for guests in the apartment). The apartment was amazing! It is immaculate. We were a couple of blocks from the subway which was extremely convenient. The apartment was also bigger than we expected. It was nice to be able to have the space completely open or slide the doors that separate the bedroom from the living room/extra sleeping space for some privacy. The neighborhood is great because it is not super touristy. There were lovely bistros, several grocery stores, and some amazing crepe and pastry shops all around the apartment. Although we never took advantage, there was a nice flat-screen TV with cable and a dvd player (Rachel even supplied dvds for us to watch). There is also an iPod dock - we did use this when we cooked and ate dinner in the apartment. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots/pans, utensils, dishes, coffee maker, tea pot, toaster, and spices. There's even coffee and tea in the cupboards. The shower was awesome! It's pretty big and has a huge rain shower head. I don't remember if it says this in the description of the property, but there is an elevator...which was a welcome surprise for the 3 of us (who had a total of 6 pieces of luggage). I would not be able to come up with one negative thing to say about this apartment. I've already recommended it to friends and will definitely stay there next time I am in Paris!

Terrific Place!!!

We have stayed in many apartments and homes throughout France. This apartment is top of the line! The pictures depict the apartment perfectly - very luxurious, high quality. Everything is done for your comfort and to have a washer, dryer and dishwasher makes it so easy for you to spend your time enjoying yourself. The building is secure and extremely quiet inside. The windows open to allow a cross breeze and the view is not of a block wall all too close, but a rooftop garden and farther across the tops of buildings. It is bright and airy and spotless. The neighborhood is a delightful residential area, full of shops, restaurants and bars. At night, it is lively with wonderful places to eat and very friendly. The metro is a few minutes walk to connect to anywhere in Paris. It is an easy walk to the Seine and the Marais. There are two small supermarkets very closeby. Rachel and Xavier are unbelievably helpful, friendly and flexible. There is a wonderful market on Sundays and Thursdays that is excellent and not to be missed. Without a doubt we will want to return to this apartment anytime we visit Paris. We recommend a stay here without reservation and feel confident that anyone will enjoy it as much as we did.
