It is convenient to many attractions that will be fun for all ages. World renowned for its diversity of plant and animal life, the beauty of its ancient mountains, and the quality of its remnants of Southern Appalachian mountain culture, this is America’s most visited national park.Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a hiker's paradise with over 800 miles of maintained trails ranging from short leg-stretchers to strenuous treks that may require backcountry camping. But hiking is not the only reason for visiting the Smokies. Car camping, fishing, picnicking, wildlife viewing and auto touring are popular activities.
Convenient to Historic Arts and Crafts Community:
The Historic Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, founded in 1937 is the nation's largest organization of independent artisans. Close to a hundred shops, studios, galleries, and inviting little eating establishments line an eight mile loop along Route 321, a couple of miles from our cabin. Most of the little shops and studios are clustered here and there along a winding road that follows the contours of the hills.
The artists and crafters of the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community are a very talented and diverse group. You'll be amazed at their creative endeavors. You’ll see gorgeous quilts, old-fashioned straw brooms with hand carved handles, exquisitely woven baskets, beautiful jewelry, handdipped scented candles, Victorian ceramic pitchers, pottery, dulcimers, stuffed bears, leather vests, and much more. You’ll marvel at the talent of the many painters who paint such wonderful scenes of the mountains. These original, handmade treasures make great gifts or decorations.
Shopping Downtown Gatlinburg:
Bearway to Heaven is a secluded cabin 1.3 miles from downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee. All along the Parkway and side streets, you'll find Gatlinburg shopping treasures in village-style stores reminiscent of days when shopping was a leisurely yet exciting time! With over 400 shops and five malls in downtown Gatlinburg, you're sure to find gifts galore (and surely a souvenir for you!). There are several collectible stores in Gatlinburg featuring one-of-a-kind pieces to add to your collection. Winter Sports - Ober Gatlinburg is Tennessee's only ski resort. Its eight ski slopes range from beginning to advanced and lie 3000 feet above sea level. Using a combination of natural and man-made snow, visitors can ski and snowboard. There's even an indoor ice-skating rink that's great fun rain or shine or snow. Even if you don't ski or skate, come up and enjoy the spectacular view or relax over a delicious hot meal at Ober Gatlinburg's restaurant.

Speaking of unique - the Gatlinburg Golf Course is actually situated in a neighboring community, only because the course was built six years before the neighboring community became incorporated.
