Our beachfront cottage is your home away from it all. But close enough to enjoy all that the city and surrounding area have to offer! We call it the HoneyMoon Hut, and it doesn't matter if your are newly weds, almost weds or coming for a second honeymoon, you will love it here. we have hosted many singles here for R&R, business or homebuying. La Paz is a center of eco-tourism. and our cottage is right on the beach and surrounded by a biological preserve. This is a birder's delight: 60 species of birds call our neighborhood home. Including a pair of great horned owls. Osprey wheel and soar and swoop near our pool. Wake to the sounds of frigate birds as they steal from each other, baby ospreys squeal and demand food. Hawks swoop, and even the lowly vulture visits here. Some of the best shell collecting is right here on our beach. This is a property and owners are properly registered with the Mexican government. Drop Out Do Nothing: This is the place to come to do nothing. Well you can kayak, walk on deserted beaches, collect shells, float in the sea or the salt-water pool, and if you are really energetic, drive to town for ice cream or dinner. You won’t want to go to sleep and miss one second of the city lights view, and the moonrise over the bay which can only be described as romantic. Enjoy your first cup of coffee wrapped in one of our soft, white robes. That is if you want to leave the silken 400-thread count sheets in your wicker sleigh bed. Your home away has a fully equipped kitchen, WI-FI, A/C ,and of course the view and use of the salt-water pool. If you want to tour our beautiful beaches and other towns you will need a car. We have a special rate with a rental car agency.

Beach Combing & Bird Watching: Want to beach comb? Do it right here. Or, if you want to drive to deserted beaches your hosts provide canvas and teak sand chairs and a miniature market umbrella, a cooler and directions to the best shelling around. Our neighborhood is surrounded by a federal biological preserve there is a research institute at the far end of the beach. Birders! There are 60 species of birds that nest here. We cater to you: the thoughtful, busy person when you want to disconnect and lay down your load for a few days or a week. Or even take a vacation from your vacation. Our guests have come to heal, to start a new love relationship, to celebrate a marriage, or just to be free of schedules. We can arrange for a massage therapist to come to you. La Paz is the center of eco-tourism. you can charter a boat that takes you to swim with sea lions, snorkel around a sea mount, anchors off of Isla Espiritu Santos and you kayak to shore. Here are some words for you to include as our Review.

Feb 18th - 23rd 2009.

What a relaxing, and at the same time, exciting stay for us in the Honeymoon Hut. We travelled from snowy and cold Vancouver BC, to look at the La Paz area, and in particular, some property to purchase.

The Casita at Susan's was perfect for us! We came and went at our own pace, had all that we needed to be independent, (wireless internet, well equipped kitchen, privacy, view).

Susan and her husband are a wealth of local knowledge, from restaurants to beaches to property! We loved it all so much, we purchased some land nearby, and look forward to spending more time in the HoneyMoon Hut as we prepare and plan to build.

Susan and Ira were the perfect hosts. They provided us with worlds of info about the area and never seemed to tire of our questions. They were extremely gracious.

Their pretty and immaculate cottage was perfect and contained everything we needed and more. There is the pool and sea with a wonderful beach view out of your window.

We were looking for a place to get out of the way and just do as little as we felt like. This quiet little cottage could not have been better. Our host's Susan & Ira were fantastic in every way. They made sure that we had everything needed, including a home made pumpkin pie for thanksgiving. They were mindful that we were on vacation and ensured we had plenty of privacy. They have a great deal of local knowledge and made some excellent suggestions for places to visit and to eat. This cottage sits right on a great little beach where you can enjoy a quiet days reading, or just by the pool and watch the clouds drift by. There are other fabulous beaches within easy driving distance. If you are so inclined there is good SCUBA diving and kayaking especially around the island of Espiritu Santo.

If you are a photographer or a birder then this place is excellent with lots of big skies and interesting vistas as well many species of birds.

The cottage is well maintained and clean, there is plenty to do in the surrounding area, but you will need a car.

For the two of us it was just nice to be able to relax here in the peace and quiet and to cook for ourselves in the great little kitchen right inside the cottage. I can't wait to be in the southern Baja again just so that I can return.

Owner's Response: We try to spoil our guests with little surprises like the pumpkin pies, or some cookie dough for them to bake into cookies.
Once we had a visitor that forgot to pack panties. I had just returned from my semi-annual shopping trip in the US and had purchased some panties in the wrong size. so I was able to hand over some pretty panties!
We love meeting new people and we adjust to the needs of our guests, if seclusion and privacy is what they need, We stay in the background. If they like to socialize, we are ready to join them.

Feel the Rhythm of Moon and Tide

Susan & Ira's Honeymoon Hut (or Palm Hut - it's got a serious palm theme going on) is, as one would expect, comfortable, spacious, and scrupulously clean, with every detail accounted for - want to go build sand castles? There's a shovel and pail available to borrow. Is a picnic more your speed? They have beach chairs and a cooler.

The kitchen - and it's a full kitchen - has the necessary accoutrement for almost anything a hungry guest wants to make, whether it's toasting a bagel and making coffee, or a more elaborate meal, and all of the small appliances color-coordinate. As well, your hosts graciously allow the use of their outdoor grill.

The best thing about staying here, however, is not the mattress that leaves your back singing because it's got such great support, or the bathroom large enough to spin around in, either, it's the way you slip into a new rhythm after just a day or so.

My husband and I are nocturnal, but within a couple of days within these walls, I was waking at dawn, and and going to bed not long after moonrise. I spent early mornings on the sand, and fell into the habit of an afternoon nap on those days where I had evening activities planned. Not only did I return from my Baja vacation well rested and refreshed, the amount of walking and fresh food with only essential seasonings meant that I am probably the only woman on earth to return from Christmas vacation having LOST a few pounds. (Results not guaranteed, your mileage may vary.)

Susan and Ira are low key hosts. If you need something, they'll provide it. If you're desperate for company, they'll be pleasantly sociable, but if you want to be left along to simply enjoy the sun, sand, and sea, you'll be granted that pleasure.

Most of us go on vacations claiming we want to get away from it all, and then finding places that echo our home lives. The honeymoon hut really DOES get you away from it all, but never fear: if you're a news junkie, their free wifi will keep you well connected.

We have stayed with Susan and Ira in this delightful guesthouse and loved it! It has all the ameneties you could ask for, and more. The attention to detail feels five-star. The location is great -- close enough to La Paz yet quiet and secluded, with the beach outside your door.

You will feel pampered and totally relaxed by the time you leave this beautiful spot.

We try to have all of the little niceties that we expect when we stay in a hotel or vacation rental...and then some.
Like good coffee, coffee filter, a good coffee maker and carafe. Oh and for you tea drinkers, we have luscious teas as well.
And from our herb garden, fresh basil and rosemary for when you cook "at home."
We have beach chairs and an umbrella for you to take along to other beaches, a cooler, picnic ware, and pails and shovels for your inner child!
And we have a car rental deal for you as well.
