Photos and Description of this Staniel Cay holiday cottage 2BR Cottage, full bath, huge deck

Serenity Cottage has two bedrooms, a bath, full kitchen and living area with a huge surrounding deck. This is a wonderful, private little Bahamas hideaway that overlooks 'Thunderball Grotto' where parts of the films 'Splash,' 'Never Say Never,' and 'Thunderball' were filmed. The cottage is fully-equipped, and ideal for up to two couples or a family. The Cottage can be combined with Retreat, the owner's private home, if it fits with the owner's schedule. Retreat has three bedrooms, three baths and laundry. Rental can include a 17' Mako or a 13-foot Boston Whaler, and a golf cart. Inquire on rates. The island is very small, so everything is within walking distance. There is a little village with only 100 people, a church, a couple of shops, a general store, and a community picnic beach. There are restaurants on the island, and the friendliest people you'll ever meet.

Guests return year after year to this little family island for relaxation, privacy, and all that this chain of islands offers. Staniel Cay is definitely considered the 'in' Out Island of the Bahamas.The weather is great year-round, allowing you to enjoy snorkeling, boating, wind-surfing, biking, and swimming. Air service out of Fort Lauderdale or Nassau gets you there.

The most outstanding attractions include Thunderball Grotto, a hollowed-out island (third 'rock' in front of Serenity) where you can snorkel in and be one with the fish. Pig Beach, where boaters feed wild pigs and cats, is a short boat ride to Big Major Island, and a couple of miles to the south there are protected iquanas on a Bitter Guana island. The community of Black Point is about five miles by boat; Sampson Cay is only two miles.

All types of fishing is available, with bonefishing the best in the world. Local guides can be hired for bottom, bone and deep sea fishing. Serenity also has a 25-foot Cape Dory sailboat with local captain should visitors want to day sail (optional).
