This property was perfect, it was exactly as described and everything I had hoped for.
The location was ideal, very quiet and mere yards from the ocean. All furnishings were comfortable and all kitchen and bathroom equipment was clean and in excellent working order. We really enjoyed the deck and the barbeque, most evenings were spent sat out on there with a steak and a few beers!
Our host was very friendly and helpful and I have no doubt that if we had had a problem or needed assistance of any kind that it would have been provided as soon as possible. All contact during the booking process was done very quickly and painlessly and all my questions were answered promptly and accurately.
The property is situated within walking (15-20mins approx.) distance of Cannery row in Monterey to the north, and beautiful state beaches about 10 minutes to the south. With a car there is easy access to all that northern California has to offer. We drove to San Francisco a couple of times which takes about 2 hours (around 100 miles).
I have been to Pacific Grove before, and I love the place, it's very peaceful, but with all the amenities you could require for a vacation and feels somewhat untouched from many modern trappings of towns and cities even within a few miles of the town. I can't recommend Pacific Grove enough, and specifically the Mermaid Retreat, I will be back to Pacific Grove again, and I don't think I will stay anywhere other than the Retreat ever again!
