Unwind in privacy and beauty of this large, Ohana style home which has so much to offer its renters. Beautiful sunsets every night including spectacular star gazing. This home is a generously sized family house with lush tropical gardens, cooing morning doves, colorful singing birds and tropical warm breezes to cool the afternoons. Several well known family beaches are just 5mi. away, with snorkeling, tide pools, and turtles! (Great for kids!)The 4-bedroom/2-bath main house (2,700 square feet) offers a very large, comfortable, open floor plan with a large living room, huge dinning area, and a large country kitchen - all looking out over the garden to ocean views and sunsets. Every room has high, vaulted beamed ceilings.4 bedrooms extend down the hallway towards the back of the home. You will find the master bedroom has a private full bath area. The other 3 bedrooms share a 2nd full bathroom, bedrooms look out to garden areas. A guest suite sits beside the pool looking out to ocean.

Kailua Kona is located on the west dry side of the Big Island. Humidity and temperatures at the coast average 85 to 90 degrees with high humidity. Our home is centrally located for visits to the Volcano National Park, the rain forests, a drive to Hilo either south through South Point or north through Wiamia. Home above Keauhou Bay, upslope, where temperatures are 80 degrees everyday and without the humidity of coast. Below home , just 10 minutes away ,there are boat rentals for scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming , kayak paddling in the warm still waters of beautiful Keauhou Bay, King Kamahamaha's birthplace.

Guest Suite : The guest suite consists of one large room with its own bath, king size bed, in addition one double futon pullout sleeping sofa. There is plenty of space in this room. The guest suite is next to the swimming pool, overlooking the tropical garden, ocean, and spectacular Keauhou Bay. This is a fantastic family getaway home.

Garden and Pool: The home is surrounded by an abundance of tropical landscaping , birds and flowers. There are Papaya tress too! Birds abound! A gardener attends to this garden once a week. The 16' by 33' swimming pool is set in the garden outside the guest quarters. The entire pool area has a terrific ocean view. The pool is also attended to by a pool person. There is a fantastic adult 4 person swing as well on the lani !

Perfect for Family with children and party of 10

My Family stayed at this lovely Ohana Home, Walu Wahi, from July 8 to July 13, it was perfect for all ages, from 58 to 7 years old in our party of 10.
Beautiful sunsets each night right from our own back yard over looking the Ocean...,Two grills were provided for your cookouts, a gas and charcoal...which we enjoyed several nights, The pool provided much enjoyment for my 5 grandchildren, after a day full of site seeing and beach swimming...to come back to this lovely home where we cooked out as they swam givning them plenty of down time and restful sleep. Yeah! Each couple had their own private room's and the kids had two in each of the other rooms, and I the Nana, had my own private detached suite by the pool, of course sharing each night with a different set of grandchilden...truly a "home away from home".
The home was located within 5 mins. of the beaches and attractions on the Kona side of the Island...Hilo was not that far away and we did enjoy that side of the Island as well, just wish we had more time!
A home that should be on your list if you need the space and privateness of a home with 5 grandkids.

True Hawaiian vacation!

We stayed at Malu Wahi for a week in July '09. We were group of 2 young families with children and an old couple(19 mos. to 67!) We felt that we all had our own comfortable spot whether it was on the outside swing, the pool (poolside) or the bright dining room. Everyone had a great time at Malu Wahi! The house was well equipped with everything, including beach and pool gears which former renters left. Kids loved the pool! (Grown-ups too!) It was lovely to take a walk on Walua Rd. before the sun starts beating on the earth. The air was so fresh and it was so much fun to check out native plants along the way. The sunset was speechless; you don't have to go anywhere to enjoy the famous Hawaiian sunset. The large windows in the dining room are your movie screen to watch the unforgettable sight!!! We loved it. Star gazing at night was amazing too.
The house was located at a very convenient place. Keauhou shopping center, where you can get basically everything, was maybe 5 min. away. My best favorite snorkeling beach, Kahalu'u beach, was within 10 min. You can drive to Kona coast line to shop and dine in a short drive. (10-15min.) Even Walmart, Borders and Target were there in 15 min. distance!!! We also went to Mauna Kia summit and Kilauea Volcano park from this house. Very convenient, yet you can stay away from "regular" tourists to enjoy true Hawaiian atmosphere in this rural setting.
Micki, the owner, was very sincere and always answered my questions promptly through email. The agency on the island was very nice too. We truly enjoyed our vacation and love to go back to Malu Wahi. I recommend the house with no hesitation!

Great place

The house was very spacious, well maintained and was great for our group of nine (including four children). We all had our own space but it was great to enjoy the private pool, well stocked kitchen and large eating area. We were very comfortable staying here and felt at home.

There were many recommendations of things to do & places to visit while on the Island. The house is close to shopping, great view of the ocean (when it wasn't cloudy) and other activities.

I would certainly recommend this home when visiting Kona with a group.

the house is very well located. it was very clean when we arrived. everything we needed was there.
When we had questions they were there to assist us.
In Kona you find eveything you need.
We would certainly recommend this to our friends if they were talking of visiting Hawaii.
