The Leon House. Secluded, stylish, yet cozy, historic guest house in the lovely Old Enfield neighborhood (78703). Bright with lots of windows and lots of charm. Built in 1922 and recently remodeled, this little cottage was the original servants quarters for a historically landmarked home that once belonged to prominent Austin architect, Robert Leon White. It has beautiful tile floors in the living area, the original painted pine floors in the bedroom and period penny round tile in the bathroom.

We are a 5 min. drive to the Texas State Capitol and downtown. Walk 3 blocks to the Cap Metro bus stop and take the #9 Enfield to downtown and hit shops & restaurants in the 2nd Street district, clubs on 6th Street or the Austin Museum of Art or Arthouse on Congress Ave. UT is also close by. Walk there in about 20 minutes or catch the ER shuttle bus at the corner of Lorrain & Enfield and be there in less than 5 minutes. We are also about a 3 min. drive or 15-20 minute walk to the flagship Whole Foods Market at 5th & Lamar and surrounding shops, galleries and restaurants. Even closer is the 5 star restaurant, Jeffrey's at 12th & West Lynn, only 5 blocks away. Also in the 12th Street/ W. Lynn area there is a small well-stocked grocery called Fresh Plus, Nau's Drugstore with a lunch counter & soda fountain, Cipollina Italian Bistro, Galaxy Cafe and Zocola.

Great location, comfortable place

My only wish was that we had planned a longer stay! The place was in a great location - a close drive to everywhere that we needed to get to (UT campus, downtown). The cottage was very comfortable and clean. Would stay there again with no reservations.

Convenient to everything

My 10-year-old son and I spent a week at the Leon House, and it was just right for us. Clean, quiet, and really close to everything in downtown Austin. Amy is a gracious hostess with great restaurant suggestions.

Austin in a cottage. It's an airy, beautiful place with such charm. So unique. I will absolutely book again. Everything was beautifully clean, and I loved that Amy uses all organics in the home...rain barrel, recycled paper products, etc. Whole Foods, Book People, and other Austin sites were easy and quick to get to, but the house was removed from all the traffic, etc. I didn't know how happy I'd be to see a chicken outside the window as I sipped morning coffee. I'm a little addicted to the place...already planning a return soon.

We just spent the weekend at the Leon House and loved it. It's a lovely, beautifully decorated and private retreat just outside of downtown. It was so close to everywhere we wanted to go, restaurants, museums, clubs and galleries and the neighborhood it's located in is gorgeous.
We especially loved the chickens.

A quiet retreat perfect for a small family

My little family and I just got back from the Leon House, and we couldn't have had a better experience. This beautiful, artfully decorated cabin is an ideal retreat within the city. My son, who is almost 2, loved the backyard and its 3 chicken inhabitants.

Amy and Shu Mei couldn't have been nicer. Shu Mei provided us with fresh eggs to enjoy. They facilities are ideal for a small family, with a new kitchen, dishwasher and washer/dryer.

I would, however, recommend that you rent a car during your visit. Renting a car made the visit much easier for all of us. I had envisioned the property being closer to downtown than it was, and we'd hoped not to get a car. The Whole Foods on Lamar is close, but still a health walk.

We were grateful to have found the Leon House. We'd definitely consider renting there again!
