Endor, a serene gated retreat, is located just minutes from downtown Carmel and an easy drive to two beaches, parks and golf-courses. It is nestled on a sunny spot, on five acres of majestic redwoods, boulders, a seasonal creek and beautiful oaks. There is a contemporary 3bdr/2ba, two-level home and a 1bdr/1ba guest cottage. Both house and guest cottage are very bright, with high ceilings, lots of windows, stone slate throughout and lots of art. Wake up to the songs of birds and enjoy wildlife all around: foxes, deer, condors. Hike with a book to the top of the hill for panoramic views and some quiet time. Host intimate dinners or parties in the great room. Take an easy drive to downtown Carmel, rustic Carmel Valley, beaches, Point Lobos, Big Sur or the spectacular Pacific Coast. This area is rich in activities: riding, hiking, biking, golf, tennis, art, wine-tasting, gourmet dining and so much more. Excellent golf courses at nearby Quail Lodge or Carmel Valley Ranch.

  • The master suite has a 'his ' and 'hers' sinks, high ceilings, a separate slate shower enclosure, a separate toilet. The jacuzzi is under a picture window which frames the beautiful oaks outside, and wild flowers in the spring and summer. The guest cottage has a beautiful tiled shower over the bathtub. The tile is from India.

About the house: This contemporary custom home is centered around a great room with a stone fireplace, tall ceilings and panoramic windows that open up to a wraparound slate deck with a BBQ and an entertaining area. Dining area with a wrought-iron table and matching chairs can accommodate small intimate gatherings or large parties. A large flat-panel TV with satellite service, CD and DVD player complete a cozy sitting area around the fireplace. There is a fully equipped kitchen with modern appliances, spice rack, silverware, china and glassware. In the spacious master suite, a Jacuzzi bath looks out to the trees. The bedroom has a CA King bed and opens to a private deck overlooking the scenery. A second two-level suite can be completely closed off for privacy. It has a very spacious master bedroom upstairs with high ceilings and a CA King bed. The downstairs room has a Queen bed, large closet and opens on its own deck. The two bedrooms share a full bath with a shower and a bathtub.

About the guest cottage: The guest cottage is a miniature replica of the house. It is octagonally shaped has a Queen-size bed, a closet, a full bath with a bathtub and a kitchenette. Tall ceilings and windows all around create a light and airy feeling. The guest cottage has its own deck.

About the area: This area is rich in activities: riding, hiking, biking, golf, tennis, art, wine-tasting, excellent food and so much more. Garland park with excellent hiking, as well as numerous other parks are close by. If you are more adventurous, try the week-long back-packing trips offered in the Tassajara area. Excellent biking everywhere on the country roads. Nearby Carmel Valley Ranch and Quail Lodge offer Peter-Hay designed golf courses, and some of the finest restaurants in the area. Carmel Valley Athletic club has excellent tennis courts and private lessons, as well as a swimming pool, aerobics, tennis and opportunities for a workout in spectacular setting. Excellent horseback riding in many equestrian centers around, most notably Stonepine, Holman Ranch and the European Horse Center. The area is famous for its wine-tasting and excellent wineries are located near-by: Bernardus, Chateau Julien, Talbotts and Georis.

Everyone loved the house and separate cottage! 4 couples were very comfortable, lots of space, comfy beds, and 3 baths. Great views and wildlife. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed daily visits to Carmel-by-the-Sea, Pacific Grove, Big Sur and exploring Carmel Valley.
Very nice owner and provided information on area restaurants and areas of interest. The owner was very helpful in accommodating our group by
providing a larger dining table and chairs. It was perfect for meals and games. The outdoor patio was our favorite gathering place during the day.
I would highly recommend Endor; especially for a large group. Very serene and private.

The Perfect Private Setting

This is definitely the place for the nature lover who wants to be near the attractions and amenities of Pt. Lobos-Carmel. The setting is about as beautiful and peaceful as it gets, and the house is spacious and generally well appointed. Check out Bistro 211 and the fish place in the same mall ( Daniella can direct you), and the Patisserie and Cantinetta Luca in Carmel. Some good hiking in Carmel Valley as well, though hikers allergic to poison oak should visit in the winter. Don't miss the Monterey Bay Aquarium, even if that's not the sort of thing you usually do. Binoculars a must.

Great Place to Stay!

My husband decided to run the Big Sur Marathon last year. We had quite a few family and friend supporters that wanted to join us for the event. We tried hotels in the area; but with such a large group (including kids) that all wanted to be together, we thought that renting a house might be the better option. Not only was it better for accommodating our group -- but as it turns out, was much more affordable than separate (and cramped) hotel rooms. The house is very spacious and well taken care of -- the pictures are a very accurate representation of the house. The owner was a complete pleasure to work with -- not only were the basics hassle-free (contract, deposit, etc), but Daniella went out of her way to recommend restaurants and activities for our group while we were in town. It was a great place to stay -- we would definitely re-visit and recommend it to any of our friends and family.
One word of caution, if you have children in your group -- poison ivy is prevalent to this area, so just watch where little feet roam.
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Young Children

Beautiful setting

We spent a very enjoyable week in this home celebrating my birthday. The descriptions and photos are accurate, and the owner is a dream to work with, responsive and responsible. The rental contract was simple and clear and terms very reasonable. The setting is beautiful and private, but near shopping. It's often hard to find a three-bedroom rental home without having to put one couple in bunks. Here the beds were all comfortable. We only cooked one full meal, but found all that we needed, and the gas grill and oven worked very well. And the big screen TV was easy to work. If you don't mind uphill, the road is wonderful for walks, gorgeous scenery!

We rented the house for our annual golf trip. We usually stay in hotels in Carmel but thought we would try something new. We ended up having a great time! The property is very unique in both design and location. The owner was great to deal with also. Everything met or exceeded our expectations.
