I will never stay at Trillium again
Review Submitted: May 27, 2008
Date of Stay: April 2008
When we first arrived I expected more. The villa was older than the pictures portrayed. The first night I noticed the there were ants/crawling bugs everywhere in the bathroom that is shared by the rooms with double beds. I told the maid and cook and we were told they were “sugar ants” (in the bathroom), They sprayed bug spray on the counter and near the toilet on the trail on bugs but the came back the next day (probably and infestation of some sort) I could not leave my towel in that area because the bugs got on my towel daily. In addition the shower was not useable, because if the shower in the main bathroom was used at anytime the water pressure was non-existent; we were told they already knew about it. We were not told it was going to be fixed.
We were amazed that no one had your information to contact you with issues and concerns. They said you call every so often and Miss Velma said she had not met you.
The driver Easton:
We sat with him one of the first hours we arrived with our itinerary and the only trip he said he could not do was Kingstion, he said that would be an additional 100 dollars. We paid him 700 dollars on Tuesday because we requested a receipt. Everything was went fairly well until the day he did not show up one day which his story does not make any sense to why he did not come. After that he decided that nights and days were a separate price. And that he never does day trips and nights on the town. Supposedly it was unsafe; all kinds of stuff came out. I think his actions were unprofessional and I would never use him as a driver again.
Some suggestions:
I think there should be official contract paperwork that states exactly what will and will not be done by both your staff and drivers. They are a direct reflection on you and your property maintained. For example the hours they will work very important. How often fresh towels will be displayed, how much toilet paper is allotted, what the users are responsible for paying for. (we ran out of toilet paper the last two days). I think the villa would have been much nicer if the there was some updated décor. A microwave is much needed in this villa. There was no way to warm up food. There was no barbeque grill for outdoor cooking.
Owner's Response: Trillium has been in our family for over 30 years. It has been a special part of our lives from the moment my father and mother purchased the villa. Throughout the villa's rental history, we have never had disappointed guests. Our cook has been with us for over 25 years and is, along with the rest of the staff considered to be the number one reason renters return to Trillium when vacationing in Montego Bay. We truly regret any incident or incidents that led to this guest's less-than-stellar vacation while staying at our villa. Our response to the recent review follows.De'cor: Last summer we updated much of the de'cor within the house and will continue with additional upgrades when we visit in a couple of weeks. The pictures on the website were taken within the last year.Ants: The house is currently under contract with an exterminating company and receives monthly service. It is my understanding this is an isolated incident.Low(or non-existent) water pressure: The water pressure has not been an issue in the past. The showerheads were replaced less than a year ago with pressure-minimizing fixtures. The villa receives plumbing services as needed.Transportation: Transportation during your stay is available by renting a car or by securing the services of a driver. Easton, our suggested driver, is reliable and extremely accommodating. He is an independent driver not directly affiliated with the villa, but is highly recommended. As he has been driving vacationers around the island for over 10 years, Easton will take you to the best attractions the island has to offer. He is conscientious and adamant about the safety of his passengers while they are not only traveling in his van, but also when they are out and about during day and nightime excursions. As should be expected, he may request additional compensation for extended day and or night trips. As former residents of Jamaica, when my husband was employed by a US company, we always use Easton for our transportation needs. When any issues arise at the villa during your stay, the staff will contact our house manager who lives in Montego Bay. You will also be given his phone number as a contact. I also encourage renters to contact me with any comments, questions or concerns before, during and after their stay at Trillium. While vacationing at our villa, we want you to have the vacation of your life. We will do whatever we can to ensure you have an unforgettable stay at Trillium.
