Marina di Casalvelino is a lovely seaside village with a fishermen’s port and 7 km long sandy beach in the Cilento National Park (UNESCO world heritage site, WWF section: fantastic hiking up to 1.700 m, a cyclist's heaven). There is a beachfront promenade with restaurants and cafes, shopping, boat trips to Capri. The town is divided into numerous parts, the so-called “Frazioni”. “Il Paese”, the main town lies on 150 meter and is a sleepy town away from the happenings and through traffic. The historical town centre with its angled alleyways originated approximately 2500 years ago within three stages of urban migration. The central piazza with its social life and later the boardwalk with stores and Cafés represented this new development. This was certainly the first groundwork for possible inner-Italian tourism. The creation of “Marina di Casal Velino” was in the 30th of the 20th century amidst the villas and palazzos dating back to the 19th century.
