This holiday apartment is located centrally near to the Bode river, only a few steps away from the health park. A cosy tea-room offering breakfasts is just opposite. Drinks delivery and laundry service are available at no extra charge.The Cebit and Hannover Fair, as well as Braunschweig, Goslar and Wernigerode are easy to reach by car. The Vitamar Adventure baths with high tech slide, wave bath and swimmer's paradise is unique, and only 20 km away in Bad Lauterberg. Walking on the 90 km long Hexensteig (witch's path) through the most beautiful places in the Harz Mountains will be unforgettable, and good for your health too. The Nordic Walking Centre and School at Wurmberg offers fitness for all age groups. Nowadays you can ride your bike on the Wurmberg too, and monster bikes with huge ballon tyres and disc brakes can be hired. If you going uphill you can use the cable railway.

A dreamy little town with plenty of leisure time activities. Surrounded by dense Harz forest, Braunlage is a great place to explore during the summer or winter. Hochharz national park's flora and fauna are a wonderful nature display. It'll be a holiday beyond comparison when you see the rutting of the deer and the courtship display of the capercaillie. Swimming enthusiasts are well provided for at the adventure baths in Vitamar. There are ski pistes here in Wurmberg too.

Further Details: Wurmberg cable railway, ski lifts, steam railway to Brocken, dam visits, sitting around beside the little Bode river by the house. Child's playground at close hand. Being located right on the Hexensteig lets you see nature through the eyes of a walker. The whole of the 90 km long path winds through wonderful, unique, unspoilt biotope.

Ski: Braunlage has ski slopes at all levels of difficulty for expert and beginner alike, reachable by cable railway and ski lift. Winter will be just wonderful on 90 km of snow-cleared hiking trails and partly-lit cross-country ski trails, 1.6 to 180 km in length. Alternatively, sleigh rides, a skating rink and a tobogganing run offer fun for everyone.

Other Activities: Mini-golf, figure skating, ice hockey, cross-country and downhill skiing, sledging

Mitten in Braunlage - aber absolut ruhig gelegen

Wir bewohnten die Wohnung im 2. Stock und haben vom Verkehr auf den beiden Hauptstraßen absolut nichts mitbekommen. Die Einkaufsstraßen sind ca. 3 Minuten entfernt, zur Wurmbergseilbahn sind es ca. 5 Minuten. Die Ausstattung der Wohnung entspricht gutem Standard und ist sehr gepflegt. Praktisch: Bei Sorgen oder Nöten kann man sich unter der Woche im Büro des Vermieters im Erdgeschoß melden bzw. außerhalb der Bürozeiten auf die angegebene Telefonnummer zurückgreifen.

Einzige Mankos: Der Preis fürs Internet ist exorbitant hoch, wir haben uns lieber einen Internetstick vom örtlichen Aldimarkt geholt, das war günstiger. Des weiteren wären Insektennetze für die rückwärtigen Fenster von Vorteil. Als die Nächte kühler wurden kamen doch recht viele (kleine) Spinnen in die Wohnung gekrochen. Dennoch würden wir im nächsten jahr bedenkenlos wieder buchen.

Im näheren Umkreis gibt es unzählige Restaurants. Erwähnenswert ist m.M. nach das Askania-Restaurant, das an 4 Tagen der Woche gute Fleisch- und an 2 Tagen der Woche Fischgerichte für unter 6 Euro anbietet. Wer es etwas gehobener mag ist in der "Kastanie" gut aufgehoben. Das Restaurant liegt 3 Minuten entfernt am anderen Ende der Marktstraße und macht u.a. hervorragende Wildgerichte.

Die Ferienwohnung war ideal - im Stadtzentrum, nah zur Wurmbergsseilbahn und zur Eishalle. Sehr schön eingerichtet und sauber.
Einzige Kritik - das Internet wäre zu teuer gewesen.
