This property is located next to Lake George which is approximately 8 miles wide at this point. There is a deck located off the back door with a walkway that leads to a dock that can accommodate up to a 22 foot boat. There is a boat ramp approximately half a mile from the home. Within a five mile radius, accessible by boat or car, are several springs that feed into the lake, these are popular areas for snorkeling, or just tying up the boat and swimming around. The home is located in Ocala National Forest and is surrounded by hiking trails. Deer, Bear, and other wildlife can often be seen. You can rent a canoe and paddle up the nearby Ocklawaha River to Silver Springs Theme Park or spend the day on the ATV designated trails riding four wheelers. The location is rural, the house is located in a quiet neighborhood with about 30 other houses. The town of Salt Springs is located approximately 5 miles North and has several restaurants, gas stations, a grocery store, etc.

Location: This house is ideal for a family vacation. It's located away from the busy cities and beach towns, however either the Gulf or Atlantic Coast can be reached from it in about an hour to ninety minutes travel time. It is approximately the same distance from the tourist attractions in Orlando. (Universal Studios, Disney, Sea World, etc.) This makes a day trip to any of these areas well within reason.

Lake George: The fishing in the lake is some of the best Florida has to offer. The lake is connected to the Atlantic Ocean via the St. Johns River so in addition to the freshwater fish, there are also some saltwater fish. Depending on the season, the shrimp may be running or the Blue Clawed Crabs may be trapped. It is also located about 5 miles from Lake Kerr, another popular recreational spot for boating and fishing.

We stayed at this house for a month in Feb.-Mar. 2009. We were looking for something a little more rural after spending many years in the Orlando-Kissimmee area. This was perfect. It is a little out of the way but there are good places to eat, get groceries and gas close by. You can get to the beaches and Disney within 1 1/2 hours drive. The property is well maintained and comfortable and has everything you need. The neighborhood is quiet and very friendly. We had a very nice vacation and we hope to be able to go there again next winter and maybe for a little longer stay. The only thing that it did lack was a picnic table for outdoor sitting but other than that everything was great!
Owner's Response: It never ocurred to me to put a picnic table in the backyard, but I will do so in the near future.
