My family and I just spent 9 days at the Hightaway and have nothing but good things to say. The property was so gorgeous the photos really don't do it justice. The house was just as described, very clean and cute. We liked how the kid's room was separated from our room by a jack and jill bathroom. The beds were very comfortable.
Our children were so busy on the rope swing, canoe and river raft that they didn't watch TV for the whole trip. There was also a tire swing, swingset and picnic table. A couple of peacocks wandered around, too, and we got to see a turtle laying her eggs under the deck.
Although Center Point is a tiny town, they do have a couple restaurants worth going to. In fact, while we were at Dave's (whick is walking distance from the Hightaway), there was a photojournalist there from Texas Highways doing a story about it who took some photos of us for their magazine. Vicky's Burger's was also worth trying.
This is a magical, beautiful place and we wish we could have stayed forever.
