If you've already set your sites on Crested Butte, you're already on the right track! This town is one of our favorites in the world! Not just for skiing, but also for hiking in the summer, mountain biking and even just relaxing and taking a break from the busy lives that we lead. Our house reflects this. When we first moved in, it was obviously a miner's cabin which had been brought down from Irwing lake and added on to to make a house, but it did need a little T.L.C.! In renovating it though we have kept the charm that initially drew us to it whilst adding things like a hot tub under the stars, a sauna, great insulation and cozy furnishings. Location-wise, it would be hard to beat - it's a few blocks from the main drag (Elk Avenue) and the stop for the free shuttle to the mountain is almost directly opposite the house. The house is cozy enough for a romantic getaway for 2, but also large enough for a relaxing vacation for 4!

We fell in love with Crested Butte the first time we came to do some back country skiing in 2000. Since then the town hasn't stopped growing on us. Every year we discover new restaurants, new slopes, new hikes and, best of all, new friends in what has to be one of the most welcoming communities we know. Whether you come here to ski, to hike, to bike or just to relax, there is always something going on here. The day is yours for the taking! Any time of year the mountains are beautiful and challenging. Just a 10 minute ride on the free shuttle bus that stops almost outside the door, the main mountain resort never stops improving. Activities on the mountain are boundless and open to all skill levels. In the summer there are endless possibilities for camping, hiking and exploring this great area.

This place is nicer than the pictures show. Everything was spot on. Only about 5 minutes to the mountain. We will be back.

Makes You Forget All Your Worries...

What a wonderful week I had while staying in this amazing secret cottage. From the road, the cabin looks buried in snow, and you might not look twice. Once inside, however, you have a very cozy home that will make you want to lock the doors and never leave. I am not MUCH of a skiier, so I elected to stay in the hot tub the entire time. With restaurants in close proximity, this was truly a joy come true!

I cannot wait to spend more time in the Mining Cabin!

Escape to Bliss

One of the only places in the world where you feel like you actually escaped life. Crested Butte is undoubtedly one of the most quaint and friendly mountain towns imaginable. A true hideaway where you won't find the standard lines causing you to wait half an hour before you get back to the top of the mount. You will find yourself surrounded by fine local cuisine, busy (not packed) bars, cute shops, and truly awe-inspiring nature. The cabin itself is true luxury without pretentiousness. Everything is it its right place here- from the rustic furniture to the gas-stove fireplace to the cozy nook perfect for cozying up under a fleece blanket with a book and hot chocolate. You'll find yourself rushing home after a long day on the slopes to stretch out and relax in your own personal hot tub and hot coal sauna right outside your front door. And afterwards, sink into the california king sized bed in the master bedroom where you will find yourself in absolute bliss.
