17,000 hectares of Oberstdorf (roughly 75%) have been declared a nature preserve, wild reserve or national park, 12,000 of the hectares belong to the 'Allgäu Alps' National Park alone.

Our mountaineering schools offer you the finest tours under the supervision of experienced mountain quides who get you safely to famous viewpoints and secluded hiking trails. Or do you prefer things a little more relaxing? Even an excursion on low ground can still get spirits high. Oberstdorf offers you both alternatives! Over 200 kilometres of footpaths lead you through delightful valleys at vertignous heights. If you like, the tourist information can enter your personal data into the health computer and determine which of the fourteen health-resort hiking trails is ideally suitable for you on the basis of the ambient climatic conditions. Or simply take a look at the hiking map if you would rather decide on your own.
Ski:
Winter highlights = International Ski-jumping Tour, German Figure Skating Championships, Ski-flying World Cup, International Snowboard Events, Winterfestival at the 'Kurpark', Year 2005 FIS Nordic Ski-WM; Simply tri-mendous! Nebelhorn, Fellhorn and Söllereck: the very sound of these 3 names makes skiing fans' mouths water. And that's no wonder considering the 44,000 meters of downhill slopes (30,000 meters of which are virtually snow-safe), 29 different lifts, numerous cosy mountain lodges to stop and sun until your're ready to drop... Even snowboarders know that the snowboarding possibilities at Oberstdorf are no longer a secret. All-round fun is guaranteed in the steep-sided half-pipe and cool funparks. Given the 85 kilometers of laid courses, you can almost take the word 'cross-country' literally.
Golf:
Golf and culture! What could be more heavenly than a round of golf in the morning on the 9-hole course at Oberstdorf and then a visit to one of the enchanting chapels in the afternoon (when you can seize the opportunity to make your apologies for one or the other word of blasphemy that just happened to slip from your lips while you were on that fairway...).
