Wiscasset holiday

After over a month of painstakingly checking out rental homes in the mid-coast Maine region last spring, I decided on this one for our surprise family celebration of my husband's 60th birthday in September. The minute we walked in the house, everyone knew I had made the right choice! Not only was the house in a great location for traveling either north or south for a day's exploration (which we did - the Windjammer Festival in Camden; Pemaquid Lighthouse; a schooner ride in Boothbay; kayaking in East Bath; LL Bean; a wonderful day in Kennebunkport, just to name a few!), the house was also perfect for just staying home and relaxing (which we also did - quiet moments in the chair by the water, grilling out on the deck, boiling lobsters at $3.99/lb - WOW!, and putting together jigsaw puzzles on the coffee table to the sounds of a crackling fireplace at night). We found everything immaculate and loved the fact that there were so many little extras in the house that Sandra had provided (the cooler to get lobsters from the market; the amazing spice drawer in the kitchen; the stocked laundry room, etc.). You just don't see that in many other rental homes - you have to start from scratch when you arrive and end up with a lot of extra expenses. Our family of 10 loved the three-floor opportunity to be together (or to not be!), the incredible back deck (and view), and the warm and inviting way the house was decorated. Did I mention the wonderful master bedroom and bath? WOW! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. We made a memory that will last the rest of our lives!
