Comfortable river front home, close to golf, fish and swim in the back yard. Stone's Throw River House is a classic country cape constructed in 2001. New on the market, it has been repainted and refurnished. Located on a bucolic, typically Vermont, country lane in Chester, a charming small village. Sleeps 10. The first floor has the Master Bedroom Suite (queen size bed) with private full bath. Upstairs are two rooms with queen size beds; a children's room, with a bunk bed and two twin beds; and a full bath, making the house ideal for two families or a multi-generational family. Fully equipped kitchen, eating area for 10 (+ high chair). Comfortable living room with fire place. Children's play area (with TV) in basement. Skiing at Okemo and Magic is a 'stone's throw' away. Golf at Tater Hill and Okemo. Wireless broadband Internet access. Good cell phone reception. Satellite TV. No smoking, no pets

Stone Village (registered on the National Register of Historic Places) contains numerous historic buildings built of quarried stone. Beyond the green, Chester has a wide range of restaurants from white tablecloth to barbecue. Skiing and gold are a stone's throw away. The Black and Williams Rivers are stocked with fish. Part of the Okemo Valley, Chester and the surrounding area is home to museums, numerous covered bridges and shopping.

My husband and I stayed at the Stone's Throw River House in August with another couple and enjoyed every minute of the week-end. The accommodations were delightful--the best part was the relaxing atmosphere and the thoughtful appointments of the interior. Sitting out in the back and listening to the river flow as we prepared a
bar-b-q and sipped our wine was a highlight. We played golf at a local course with beautiful views, located quite close to the house and reasonably priced. We hiked at a trail near Okemo--also quite scenic and fairly challenging.
Chester is charming--we enjoyed the local restaurants and walking into town.
We look forward to coming back during ski season--maybe bring the kids this time--plenty of room and amusements for all ages.

Looking forward to Summer

We had a wonderful time at the Stone's Throw River House in February. The house was perfect for our family of 4 and my in-laws.

The master bedroom suite on the first floor was perfect for Grandma and Grandpa while the open common areas are bright, well decorated and homey.

The finished basement was great for the kids although if you have older kids I would recommend they bring some of their favorite entertainment - what's there skews young.

The house is convenient to Okemo which was great for skiing but we really can't wait to be able to enjoy the yard and river when we return this summer.

I stayed at the Stone's Throw River House with my wife and two children and my brother-in-law and his wife and two children; what a fabulous home, in a beautiful setting. The yard is great, the sounds of the river, relaxing. Nice quiet dirt road to walk on. Incredibly clean, well appointed, plenty of toys for the kids. Close to the mountain (Okemo), great local restaurants (a pub, BBQ, bakery). A great time was had by all. I can't wait to go back.
