One of the most spectacular coastal areas of Maine, Pemaquid Point Peninsula offers spectacular views of crashing surf, the famous Pemaquid Point lighthouse, and the magical Island of Monhegan. Nearby Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, and Christmas Cove offer excellent dining, shopping and much more. This charming 1920's waterfront cottage is secluded yet close to all amenities. The bright and sunny rooms are furnished with vintage wicker, old hickory, and oriental rugs and you will feel as though you are back in time. Enjoy reading, relaxing or eating your steamed lobsters on the large deck surrounded by soft ocean breezes. Cottage has a new queen size beds in both the first floor bedroom, and sleeping loft (which is accessible by ladder only, as shown in photos) Rent a kayak or canoe and hop in at waters edge for a great day of boating or swimming in Round Pond Harbor. This is a special place to relax and get away from it all.

Notes: Cottage has 1-2 local channels only. Because of the many trees, there is no satellite service available and apologize for any inconvenience. There is a DVD player and movies can be rented nearby at Rilley's Grocery in New Harbor. Rilleys is an old fashioned grocery with everything you would need including fresh fish, breads, butcher, wine and so much more. High-speed DSL has been installed for your laptop. There is a short ladder for loft sleeping. (Please see photos) This is secured safely and not able to be removed. Because of this, the cottage is only suitable for older children who can safely climb ladder. No smoking or campfires on property.

Within minutes of the cottage enjoy the famous Pemaquid Point lighthouse and its museum. The crashing surf surrounds you as you take it all in. Bring your picnic dinner and wine for a sunset you will never forget! Enjoy the Seagull restaurant next door for delicious Maine blueberry pancakes! Enjoy a cruise to the infamous Monhegan Island where some of the most famous American painters (both past and present) reside, most notably The Wyeth family. Wallk the bluffs and take in this special place that time has hardly changed in a century or more. Enjoy a Puffin cruise and watch the local sea life up close. Go shopping, antiquing and stoll through the local towns of Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, Camden and Rockport, all nearby. Wonderful restaurants in every village and hamlet. Golf, tennis and the local YMCA are close by. Enjoy the freshest seafood around, especially our world famous lobsters, oysters and haddock. Come and enjoy a wonderful place called Maine!

My husband and I selected this cabin for the less-touristy location and we were thrilled with everything! The owner, Mike, was kind and welcoming from our first interactions over the phone. His post-card confirmation was so refreshing in our high-tech world. :-) We weren't sure how it would feel being right on someone's personal property but Mike was respectful and it felt cozy and comfortable each day returning to the cabin after being out and about. The cabin was exactly what was described in the advertisement. Plenty of room - we didn't feel cramped at all. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We had been a bit skeptical about the pull down bed but it was actually quite comfortable. I we literally sat up each morning to look straight out over the water and watch lobster boats go by! Pemaquid is beautiful! We originally thought that we'd want to head up to Bar Harbor sometime during our week stay but found that Monhegan (definite highlight!!), Pemaquid Light, Demarscotta (great art coop) and Boothbay (somewhat touristy - fyi) had more than enough to keep us busy. We were very pleased with this cabin, hated to see the week end and would go again in a heartbeat! Highly recommend for a couple - romantic and sweet little cabin on a beautiful property!

Quiet Get Away

This rental property is a great place if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life for a little while. It is off the beaten path, but that adds so much to it's charm. The area is rich with history and natural beauty, with charming little villages and breathtaking ocean vistas. There are plenty of places to enjoy fresh from the ocean seafood, delicious local ice cream, and many art galleries to peruse, if that strikes your fancy, or if you prefer, a quiet drive around the area to see the historic architecture and tranquil landscape. The cottage itself is quaint, but still with enough modern amenities to make your vacation very relaxing. We utilized the grill in lieu of eating out, spent time relaxing on the back deck overlooking the path down to the water and spent each evening curled up on the couch watching movies. The owner is extremely courteous and was an immense pleasure to rent from, I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a vacation of relaxation and rejuvenation.

Quiet, clean and affordable Cottage

If you are looking for a quiet cottage in Maine to enjoy the beauty the state offers, then this is definitely a great choice - and affordable. The cottage looks exactly as the photos show, so there was no surprise there; and when we arrived everything was in its place and clean.

It was so nice to be somewhere surrounded by beautiful trees and not even see another house! The owner leaves a binder full of ideas and suggestions in the area, which was really nice, as we didn't do much research leading up to the trip. So we appreciated having some local recommendations. The kitchen had all the basic cookware and utensils you need and the property is huge and leads right down to the water.

As far as the general location. Pemaquid is small and quiet. I'm thinking with kids, it may not be the best place as there is not a lot to do, other than eat and enjoy the outdoors. Though it's not far from Booth Bay Harbor - about a 45 minute drive and there you will find miniature golf, aquarium, museums, etc. However, Pemaquid offers great restaurants and we enjoyed going to Shaws where we bought lobsters to cook at home; and also dined there. It's a beautiful little town on the coast.
