Enjoy a relaxing beach vacation in beautiful Manhattan Beach. Enjoy the ocean view from this Manhattan Beach retreat. You are just 5 houses to the sand. We like this location because the beach is much quieter and more local in El Porto. The nice thing is that you are never very far from the action in downtown. 42nd Street is one of the best surf spots - so bring your board or enjoy watching the pros! Take a jog or a bike ride on the Strand or bike path. The bike path takes you to Hermosa or Redondo Beach to the south and Venice Beach or Santa Monica to the north. Also, watch world class beach volleyball or start a game yourself on one of Manhattan Beach's many beach volleyball courts. Just remember things are relaxed and beach casual! There is also easy dining and shopping in downtown Manhattan Beach. Our vacation home in Manhattan Beach also features original artwork by local artists.

  • The convertible sofa is very comfortable. It is larger than a queen and smaller than a king (it is Italian so the size is a little different). The best thing about sleeping at 42nd Street is that you can hear the ocean waves. Its a designer Cantoni sofa so it is better than a regular pull out sofa.

Our family of three (including a 22-mth old toddler) had an amazing stay at this vacation rental in Manhattan Beach. It was clean, peaceful and decorated simply, which I liked as the mom because I got a break, too. We all loved the close proximity to the beach. We could walk down to the beach for morning play, come back for lunch and naptime and leave our stuff there, and head back down late afternoon through early evening. It was also really nice to hear the ocean as we slept.

With downtown Manhattan Beach so close, we could take a morning walk for breakfast and did not have to use our car unless we wanted to go sightseeing out of the area.
And, since we purchased food on our way in, we used the kitchen a lot and were then able to splurge a few nights, too!

I would definitely recommend this rental and the only thing that I would do differently the next time is I would arrange to get surf lessons a few times during the week...after watching all of the surfers, I am motivated!

You may want to check out these restaurants: Uncle Bill's Pancake House for breakfast and Rock Fish for dinner.

And, Magpie's is a great shop for gifts and is downtown.
