The natural stone house is a detached property and located in a quiet olive grove with a sea view. The units in the house have state of the art furnishings. The units are situated in a way that they are fully independent of each other and offer a private area for rest and relaxation. The house is an ideal location for hiking groups or large family groups of up to 11 people. The property is surrounded by walls and is suitable for children. There is a small holiday resort town with two taverns located up from the house. There are kilometers of sandy beaches situated down from the house with taverns where one can enjoy original Cretan cuisine and great wine from the region. The beaches are located minutes away by car. They are 20/30 minutes away by foot. On the way to the house you can get your shopping in one of the two supermarkets in Rethymon.

House 1 is located on the west side of the complex. In the large living/dining room area there is a cosy fireplace corner with a view through the window of the Lybian Sea. It also contains a dining table with six chairs and a fitted kitchen in oak paneling. The two bedrooms are located on the north side of the house. The smaller one of the two rooms has a brass double bed and a wardrobe. The large bed room has three single beds, a large wardrobe and an exit directly onto the south-facing terrace. The large well lit bathroom has a semicircle bath and a washing machine. The roofed south-facing terrace has a large table with three chairs and a fabulous sea view.

The traditional town is called Agia Paraskevi. It has 24 houses, two small chapels, a children's play area and a small cafe in the center. All houses are made of stone and fit well into the mountains and landscape. You really have a dream view over the sea and the two islands Paximadis and Gaftos. The town is only occupied by walkers and travelers during the summer months. Castello Penita is situated 400 meters down from the town center.

Das Haus liegt sehr schön gelegen an mehreren problemlos mit dem Auto zu erreichende tollen Stränden. Wer Einsamkeit und Idylle sucht ist hier richtig. Das Haus ist komplett ausgestattet und genügt problemlos auch deutschem Standard. Zu erreichen ist es zwar etwas mühsam und auch zum Einkaufen muss man rund eine halbe Stunde mit dem Auto fahren. Aber diese Mühen lohnen sich!

Herrliche Erholung an der Südküste Kretas

Castello Penita ist genau das Richtige für Urlauber, die nicht dem Mainstream folgen, sondern tatsächlich Erholung suchen und die findet man nicht in touristisch überfüllten Orten. Castello Penita liegt herrlich still an der Südküste Kretas mit Blick auf Olivenbäume und das Meer. Der nächste Strand ist vielfältig: Felsen, Sand, Abgeschiedenheit trotz Taverne, kein Liegestuhlambiente, aber eine Dusche und vor allem: schönes klares Wasser. Das Haus selbst ist gepflegt und gut ausgestattet, sogar mit Waschmaschine, was einen gestattet, mit viel weniger Gepäck anzureisen als man denkt. Wir waren rundherum zufrieden und das schon das zweite, und sicher nicht das letzte Mal.

Ausspannen ohne Nachbarn

Bei der Ferienwohnung ist Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit garantiert. Als Nachbarn nur Ziegen, Schafe und Olivenbäume. Dazu einen Strand, den man im JULI nur mit 5-10 anderen Besuchern teilen muss. Und ein unbeschreiblich sauberes Wasser. Wir wollten gar nicht mehr abreisen.
Die Ausstattung lässt keine Wünsche offen und falls es mal Probleme gibt ist deutschsprachige Betreuung im nächsten Dorf verfügbar.
Da kann ich nur raten: Schnorchel und Taucherbrille nicht vergessen.
