Notes: Fishing from the Dock: You won’t catch dinner but you can have some fun. Any basic rod/reel with a small hook and little frozen shrimp work great. You can get bait at Winn Dixie or even the Cuban grocery store on US1 just north of us (5 minute walk). Boating Information: There are several options for launching your boat. 1) Tavernier Harbor On Tarpon Street (the same street that the house is on), there is a launch area at the southern end of the street. (With the house on your left, go straight to the 'dead end' of the street and you will see the launch area to your left.) While this appears to have a locked chain, I found out (after nearly 10 years) that it isn't really locked. The othe side of the chain just 'lifts off'. You can store the trailer at the house no problem. 2) Tavernier Creek Marina You can also get fuel and launch at the Tavernier Creek Marina. It is just south of the house on Federal Highway. So, leave the house, go Left (south) on Federal Highway.

What to do?: Nearby activities include John Pennycamp State Park, Key Largo. Snorkeling and Scuba diving at nearby reefs. Theater of the Sea, Islamorada. Tavernier Town Cinema. Near shopping and hospital - extremely convenient location. Private, yet near all amenities / attractions.

Bring your IPOD!: We have a Griffin Evolve “iPod with wireless speakers” system installed at the house - http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/evolve. So bring your iPod. These speakers are battery powered and are sitting on a charging stand. So, you can bring them out to the deck to have music out there. (Please be mindful of the neighbors and don’t play the music too loud.) You will need to put the speakers back on the charging tray after a few hours. There is remote control for the system that should work from the porch but it needs to be “line of sight” with the unit. (This unit also charges your iPod and it should work with an iPhone as well – but maybe note the 3G iPhones.)

Kayaks: There are two kayaks located under the house for your use. You will find the key for the lock on a separate keychain by the front door. Oars will be located in the guest room closet as well as life jackets. When you are finished with the kayaks, please give them a fresh water rinse. Same with the life jackets and oars. Upon your departure, please return the kayaks to their place under the house and lock them. Leave the oars and life jackets downstairs to dry and the property manager will return them to their inside places. During your stay you can hook the kayaks to the float in front of the house. Do not leave the oars or life jackets on the kayak. Please note that should the kayaks be left in the water during your stay and disappear, that you will have to replace them.

Lobster Season stay

We had a great vacation and this house was a wonderful location for boating. We had five adults and two boats and had a wonderful time. The third bedroom would definitly be better suited for kids as it was slightly smaller than the others but it worked for the one adult we had staying there. The kitchen had everything we needed and we enjoyed spending the afternoons relaxing on the balcony watching the beautiful view. It was a great location to boat from as it took no time to get to great spots in the bay or ocean side for fishing or diving. I do have to say though that we were disappointed there was no hammock on the balcony. We were looking forward to relaxing in the breeze...but we were still able to do that just fine on the spacious porch. The porch was my favorite part of the house. It was the perfect place to spend time together or relax with a book. We went to Wahoos for dinner and we were not thrilled. It was very pricey and had a very smal menu. Also dirty. But we would recommend Jimmy Johnsons Big Chill in Key Largo. This place was also on the exspensive side but we ate their twice and had great food. It had the best key lime pie I have ever had. Also the tiki bar there was a great place to hang out and have a drink on Friday night.

A Beautiful and Comfortable Family Home.

My family and I enjoyed a fabulous long weekend in this very comfortable beach house. The house was very well equipped, clean, spacious and welcoming. It is set off a nice quite road with friendly neighbours. Six of us stayed and had lots of room. My kids (7 and 3) thought the house was fantastic with a large indoor swing, safe beach area to play on and rocks to explore in the water. There were also books, games, videos and DVDs for young children. There are a lot of steps though for the old or very young but a stair gate was provided should you need it. I was comfortable with my 3 year old running around freely.
The owner telephoned to check everything was ok and was very friendly and helpful.
The house provided and ideal location to explore further south along the Keys or further north to the Everglades - which we did. Everything we needed was there or nearby.
We had no problems with the house at all apart from not wanting to leave!
Recommended for:  Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

We so enjoyed our stay in the Keys. The house was absolutely beautiful. It had all the amenities that we needed to have a nice relaxing stay. The neighborhood was nice too. The people were all so friendly. I loved the french doors, the hammack, the dock and the view! We even kayak'd out to the island and back - that was a workout!! Told all my friends about it and I hope to be able to go again in the near future!! Thanks for everything!

My sister and I stayed in the Tolly home for a (way too short) weekend to celebrate my birthday.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this house! The home is alive with sunshine! The master suite is wonderful! And the Victorian tub is a dream.

The privacy and size of the decks made us feel like we were in our own private hideaway.

The kayaking was safe and offered easy and challenging choices.

We are hoping to come back for a longer stay and bring our families with us next time!

We both would highly recommend this home!

Wonderful vacation home

This home was wonderfully appointed and in an idyllic location. The facility was exactly as described and close to shopping and Founder's Park, where 3 of my children swam twice a day. The sunrises, which could be viewed from two of the bedrooms and the back porch and deck, were spectacular, and a great way to wake up each morning. On the final day of our stay a school of dolphin swam by the dock to the pleasure of our entire family. The Tolley's were easy to deal with and we would certainly recommend staying here if the opportunity should arise. I cannot say enough good things, and the nice home made a good vacation great. Our only regret was having to return to the colder midsouth.
