The cure to resort-itis!

The most important thing to a great stay in Hawai'i is where you stay. And you could stay at the finest hotel, work hard, and not get half of what comes naturally at Meris and Brad's place.
We were met upon arrival with great hospitality and just the right amount of help. The views are better here than on the beach (in our opinion). You have the choice of sun or some (welcome) coolness, you have more privacy, and also more connection to the real Hawai'i and chance to experience the local culture and what it is like on a coffee and macadamia farm. You get beautiful sunsets from your own private lanai or from our own private stone patio. There is fresh lime and guava a few steps away. A great bed and bath and kitchen. We grilled the best Mahi we have ever had right on our porch--everything you need is here. When one of us had to take care of some urgent work communications, Meris helped us get that out of the way quickly--so that vacation could resume--and work just floated away.
What we were looking for was someplace where we could have some quiet--something low-key, like our own home--only better. We wanted to be able to do what we want, when we want. We wanted to prepare the food we wanted, fresh papaya, bananas, freshly grilled fish, etc. and not be kept to a resort's or restaurant's choices and schedules--and small refrigerators.
In short, everything we wanted was here--and nothing we did not want. It was a very relaxing week. We think there is no better place to stay on the Big Island. We plan to be back again and again.
