We are close by to give you any help that you may need. Just far enough from London so you can get there easily also enjoy Hertfordshire too. Our cottage is clean and cosy. Families welcome, swings, trampoline, large lawn. Swimming pool late May to mid September not sole use and by arrangement. Tourist Board again awarded us 4 stars September 2008. Heathrow 60 mins, Gatwick 90 mins. Stansted 30 mins. Own garden, patio and plarking area. Plenty of privacy.. You will need a car to get about. Ware 1/4 mile drive, Hertford 3 miles. You can walk to 4 pubs from here, all serve good food. The house is surrounded by farmland and lots of footpaths, great views. Trains take around 30 minutes into Central London and then you would connect on to the Underground (Subway system). Close to Cambridge, London, Knebworth House, Hatfield House, Duxford Aviation Museum, Windsor Safari Park, Althorp, Audley End.

Downstairs there is a single bedroom and in the living room there is a 4ft comfortable, sprung sofa bed. I also have a folding bed that can go in the living room downstairs if needed. Please note both bathrooms are downstairs, one has a bath with powerful shower over and the other just has a shower. Both have toilets. Familieis are very welcome at our cottage, we have toys, books and DVD's to keep children entertained. We also have a large garden with swings and netted trampoline. There is lots of room for ball games and playing.

LIVING ROOM : The living room measure 6m x 4m (approx 18ft x 15ft). It has new oak style flooring, leather sofas, 28' TV with DVD, games console and Digibox for extra channels. 4ft sofa bed. There is a circular oak dining table with oak and leather chairs. There is room for a folding bed in this room for the 6th person.

KITCHEN: The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. In colder weather a tumble drier is available free of charge for anyone staying 5 nights or longer. We supply tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oil etc. Basic cleaning items and dishwasher tablets are also provided. We request you bring non-bio washing powder.

OUR SERVICE: We supply a high quality, clean holiday cottage for up to 6 people. We were given a 4 star grading by Quality in Tourism in September 2008 and we adhere to all guidelines imposed by them. To provide a low allergen environment we do not have any feather bedding, we do not accept pets and we have just installed a new oak style floor in the liviing room. Please be aware the swimming pool is usually in use from the end of May until the beginning of September. In bad weather the pool will not be heated. The pool is not fenced, please be aware of this before making any booking. The cottage itself has a fenced garden by an inquisitive child could bypass this. The pool is available to use by arrangement only. We have a large garden overlooking a sheep field, there are open views to front and rear. There are 4 pubs to walk to locally.

Home away from home

We arrived on a blustery March night, gale force winds and rain. The cottage was lit and heated and very inviting. A bottle of wine awaited us and all the fixings for a cup of tea or coffee upon our arrival. It's in the country and down a lane but we were able to find it quite easily and within 30 minutes from Stansted Airport. And you do need a car to be in this location as it is in the country. But not to worry, as there is a pub just two minutes down the road, the Pig and Sow which serves very good food.

The cottage was centrally located for our needs which was to travel and use the cottage as a base. The travel into London, we did by tube from Epping which was about 20-30 minutes away and then about 1 1/4 hrs to London itself from Epping.

Although it is 3 bedrooms it would easily accommodate 2 adults and 3 or 4 kids but not sure how two couples would get on as the second bedroom is off the master bedroom with two single beds and the third bedroom is a single on the main floor but could possibly accommodate two - anyway I'm sure Annie would sort all that out for you as she is very accommodating and helpful. But that said, it had everything you could possibly need in the way of cooking, laundry facilities and just relaxing. The views are incredible from both the front and the back garden. We were there in March so obviously did not use the pool or hot tub. Overall a great experience for us as we had just spent two weeks touring Italy from Canada so required something on the quieter side. We would definitely use this location again on future trips.

Owner's Response: Trains into London go from all our local stations although Stevenage and Broxbourne are the quickest, they have fast trains that will arrive in Kings Cross or Liverpool Street in 35 minutes.

We are also ideally based for a trip to Cambridge too.

A great place to stay to relax and visit London

We just returned from a 3 week vacation to England. Our last 10 days were spent at the Wednesday Cottage in Ware. We arrived when the owners were out of town, but they made sure that everything was perfect for our arrival. We arrived to a clean, nicely decorated home with a personal letter, bottle of wine, and box of chocolates. We felt truly welcome and at home and were able to relax. Annie made sure that we had everything we may need for a family of 8 with children from age 3-14, including a box of toys and books in the living room, and movies for everyone. Our boys loved the Horrible Histories books and video game console, and everyone enjoyed hours on the trampoline and swings. She thought through all the details and was incredibly hospitable. Out of the 3 houses we stayed in during our stay, this was the most special.

Before the trip, Annie was incredibly responsive and returned my e-mails promptly. I would highly recommend this property to friends. The location was very private and quiet. Everyone loved watching the sunset out of the front of the cottage.

The cottage was easy to find and had quick access to major roads. London and Cambridge are very convenient from the cottage and with maps on the walls and travel books on the shelves, everything was easy to figure out. The cottage is about 5 minutes to the Ware train station, and then a 50 min train ride to Liverpool Street Station in London, or you can drive a few more minutes to take a train from Broxbourne with fewer stops and get to London in 30 minutes. Both had plenty of parking if you go in the morning.

The house was a little small for our family of 8, but it worked well anyway. The bedroom downstairs has a single bed with a pullout bed underneath for an additional person. Upstairs there is a room with 2 singles off the master bedroom. The master bed was comfortable and had plenty of room, a good view of the garden, and a television. The kitchen was fully equipped and had plenty of dishes and silverware. The living room had high speed internet access.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Wednesday Cottage.

An excellent place to stay!

Wednesday Cottage was the perfect place for my husband and I to stay on our recent visit to England. Annie was always very quick to respond to emails and made us feel very welcome upon our arrival. The house is just as described and easy to find with Annie's directions. We had plenty of room, kitchen had everything you would need for cooking, 2 full bathrooms and lots of forms of entertainment from TV, game console and old fashioned games. She had lots of travel books, brochures for local places and even a large map of the Tube which helped in planning our trips into London. The local train station in Ware, just a few minutes away, with all day parking available, and it took us about 45 minutes to get into the heart of London at Liverpool Street Station. The local Tescos is not very far and Annie provides directions to it and other places of interest, need or restaurants. The washing machine comes in very handy and we had access to a dryer since it was cold outside. The master bedroom was a perfect size, with a tv and a very comfortable bed.

We felt as if we were at home while we were here and Annie was always available if we had questions or needed anything. My husband said I could not have picked a better place for us to stay!

We would recommend Wednesday Cottage to anyone and will definitely return if we return to that part of England or to London.

English country cottage life at its best.

This wing of a large country house near Ware , Herts, is ideally situated in the gorgeous Hertfordshire country.
We have rented this cottage now, for many years, without a single complaint as the Owners were always there when we needed something and even allowed us to use the pool although as Ex-pat. Brits living in Palm Baech Florida, we found the water a bit of a shock. The layout is very acceptable to us as we are both in our Eighties and access is important.A recent upgarde of furnture has improved what was already fine for comfort and convenience. So what can you expect? A warm welcome, constant help at hand, pre-arrival shopping, and no domestic chores. No! thats our idea of a holiday!!

IN 2008 , we suffered bad wet weather but that did not deflect our enjoyment as we both love Wimbledon tennis and wath the whole thing on a large TV.

Whe you sit out in the evening with a Scotch or a beer, you will think you have died and gone 'upwards" just listening to the sounds you cannot possible hear!!.

Our many stays in Wednesday House Cosy Cottage

We have stayed at Wednesday Cottage from the first day it was open and it was so nice, we have returned many times for our vacations. It is so easy to travel south to London and the coast, and north.

The Cottage is so nice and very cosy. The Owners are very friendly and helpful, and nothing is too much trouble.

We would recommend this cottage most highly.
