Visiting Moloka'i:
Today a spirit of independence and rugged individualism still prevails. The percentage of native Hawaiians is far higher here than on the other islands. People here tend to resist modernization. People live outdoors a lot - hunt, fish, farm. Visitors are welcome, but they don't find much in the way of tourist attractions. There isn't a traffic light on the island. No building taller than a coconut tree. Mohala ka pua i ka mala pua. Translation: A blossom blooming in the garden. Explanation: Beauty reveals itself in a favorite place. (Moloka'i will soon be one of your favorite places to visit over and over again).
