Located in the middle of the Ozark Mountains between Harrison, Arkansas and Branson, Missouri, the Cottonwood Schoolhouse has plenty of room for privacy both inside and out. Includes all modern amenities, while offering rustic charm with a slice of history. Great yard and an unbelievable panoramic view! Extremely peaceful. Enjoy the comfort inside, or step out and enjoy the stars and a campfire at night and the landscape and a game of croquet in the day.

Other locations in proximity are Bull Shoals Lake (8 miles), the Buffalo River (30 miles), Eureka Springs (45 miles). Whether you want to take in the lakes and rivers and the shows and shopping in Branson, or just get away in a very quiet and peaceful setting, the Schoolhouse is truly a remarkable location.

A Step Back in Time to a Slower Pace

Our family of 9, 7 children ages 14-2 and 2 adults, appreciated the quiet, out of the way location of this rental. We found the house accommodating for our family's needs. The gravel road was a bit tedious when you were in a hurry to get out to town and it caused us one flat but being away from it all was the point of us renting this location. The swimming hole was wonderful - the children had many happy hours there. The owner was so helpful and gracious allowing us to extend our stay for a few days not to mention the last minute reservation that we made. We really delighted in the simple pleasure of the outdoor shower. It was enjoyable to revel in the history that surrounded us and to imagine life in the 20's and 30's as the school children would have experienced. The kitchen was well stocked and other toiletry & laundry supplies were too. We have stored away fond memories of our week in the Ozarks!

It was great! I was able to bring my very large German Shepherd and he enjoyed the location also. It truly was the middle of nowhere and the nearest neighbor was 1/4 mile away--that was the ONLY neighbor for about 2 miles!
The schoolhouse was beautiful and the hosts very accommodating--we found all sorts of stuff to do as well as just sitting on the porch and enjoying the yard. There are beautiful mountain views, a fantastic creek and a fascinating cemetary. It was full of wildlife--we saw quail, turkey, deer, snakes and heard coyotes, which was great!
The owners had plenty of material on the location's history, as well as information about the area and attractions.
Be forewarned that it is at least 45 minutes to the nearest town, and the road is very rocky.
There was plenty of room and I was surprised at the amount of food and cooking provisions were already in the house. If you enjoy adult beverages, make sure to bring it with you as it is a dry county.
It is very conveniently located where you can daytrip to Branson, Harrison or Eureka Springs.
The only 2 things that weren't perfect were that the school house was damp (we have had rain lately), and the shower had horrible pressure.
We will definately be back! It was perfect for folks who just want to get away from everything and relax and enjoy the outdoors.
