Stay in this heirloom 1906 Queen Anne Victorian waterfront home facing the Moosebec Reach at the edge of historic Jonesport, a working lobstering village in quaint Downeast Maine. Wake up each morning to the rising sun and the sound of lobster boats. Walk out the door and have your morning coffee at your own private beach. Stroll down to a nearby lobster 'pound' to pick inexpensive fresh lobster for your dinner to go with the local blueberries (Washington County produces 80% of the nation's blueberries!) to bake into pies and pancakes or just to eat by the handfuls. In the evenings, watch the sun set over the water of the Moosebec Reach and savor the reflections on the water of Beals and Great Wass Islands. This historic waterfront Victorian house, which has been restored and equipped with antiques as well as with modern appliances, is perfect for families wanting to stay in an architectural gem by the ocean.

Visit Jonesport in un-touristed Downeast Maine where life in a lobstering village hasn't changed much over the years. Across the bridge from us are historic Beals Island and Great Wass Island Preserve with hiking trails and miles of shoreline. It is only a short drive to grocery stores, hardware stores, ATMs, and small local restaurants. More high-end restaurants are a 20-30 minute drive away. Explore the Cherryfield Historic District with its amazing range of 18th and 19th century architecture. Take a boat tour of remote islands to observe puffins in their native habitat or visit island lighthouses. Jonesport even has a sardine factory museum! Don't miss the Jonesport Lobster Boat Races in July, the Machias Blueberry Festival in August and the fall foliage in October! Visit the historic W. Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec which is the easternmost point in the U.S. The Roosevelt Campobello International Park (summer home of FDR) and Canada are just an hour and a half away by car.

We loved the house -- it is an architectural gem. I loved my morning coffee on the Adirondack chairs in the yard taking in the views and reading. We picked blueberries - delicious! The kids loved taking the tour to see the puffins. We hiked nearby and visited Mt. Desert Island. It goes without saying the lobster are always great around here. We hope to back next summer!
