Local Attractions Beginning with the Outdoors...:
There are an abundance of local attractions, too numerous to list. Top destination sites are the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway with passenger tramcars ferrying visitors to the top of Mt. San Jacinto with it's beautiful views, evergreen trees, and miles of hiking trails. The Living Desert offers a spectacular botanical park and serves as a wildlife habitat for endangered species. The Street Fair at the College of the Desert, just beyond the eastern gates of Rancho las Palmas Country Club, features 250 vendors offering arts & crafts, food, and entertainment. The River at Rancho Mirage is situated across the street from the western facing gates of Rancho las Palmas. It offers shopping, theaters, a giant book store, and outdoor dining and strolling along the river walk.
Entertainment:
The Famous Palm Springs Follies features Broadway-caliber music, dance and comedy highlighting the era of the 30's and 40's. The General George S. Patton Memorial Museum showcases military life and is a tribute to soldiers of the Second World War. Nearby Agua Caliente Casino features top rated entertainment and restaurants. The Agua Caliente Cultural Museum in Palm Springs showcases historic artifacts, artwork, and photos. The Children's Discover Museum in Rancho Mirage is for adults, too (!) and handling the displays is encouraged. The Palm Springs Air Museum boasts one of the largest collections of WWII bomber and fighter planes. (And it's open daily.)
