Our new favorite beach house

We stayed at the house the week of June 6, 2009 and absolutely LOVED it! The house had everything we needed for our three boys ages 5, 4 and 16 months - high chair, pack-n-play, baby gate, pool toys, beach toys, jogging stroller and kids bikes. We spent our days at the beach, in the pool or biking around the island. Only time we used the car was to visit the grocery and to dinner one night in Bradenton Beach. Other than that everything we needed was an easy walk. The house is very well maintained and clean, and the owners are very helpful. The bikes with the beach carts were a lifesaver - one parent would bike to the beach and set up the chairs, towels and umbrella (all provided) while the other walked with the kids. We recommend eating at The Sandbar Restaurant at the gulf end of the street, The Waterfront Restaurant at the bay end of the street, Ginny's and Jane E.'s for breakfast, and ice cream at Two Scoops across from the City Pier. All are an easy walk from the house - even with young children. Our first night we ordered pizza from Oma's so we could relax in the pool - they have a great antipasta salad. Another recommendation for families is to walk North past the City Pier and you'll find a beach area with playground. The beach area on the gulf was very nice and uncrowded. Lots of shade can be found in the morning and the water is crystal clear. One thing you can't miss are the sunsets on the gulf - it's a great time to look for shells as well. All-in-all we had a wonderful time and cannot wait to spend another week at this home!
