A little bit more:
‘Thanks so much for a magnificent week in Sweden. Edlunda 1886 is
a true home with an abundance of charm. We loved the old style details and fresh touches everywhere. The grounds and island were lovely, the berries tasty, swims refreshing, and the dock, one of our favorite places to just be’
Karin Burgess 2008 guest.
This is a very special home - a classic mansion with great views of the archipelago. The location and views from the home are stunning. The house was built for a Swedish industrialist around 1912 in liberty style and no expense was spared. At that time he was the richest man in Sweden! In the house there are two social areas and a large dining room. Verandas lead to the garden or walk down to the jetty and have a sauna.
The house is ideal for a couple wanting to escape from it all and experience something a little special, a single family or a small group of friends.
History and stuff:
Dining room - specially made furniture from when the house was rebuilt in 1912 - table seats between 2-14 people.
Kitchen amenities:
Dishwasher, Fridge/Freezer, Microwave oven.
Toilet amenities - take note:
The house is ECO friendly we save water from our own well, so care is needed to conserve water.
Walk in shower in upstairs bathroom.
Originally just one WC - downstairs - save water from times gone by - not a bad idea. Now one WC upstairs also.
Included in the rent: the house is let out fully furnished and is well equipped with duvets, cushions and housewares. Towels and sheets are included.
Vaxholm and Stockholm:
In Vaxholm you will find many specialist food stores, great bakery, supermarket, fish monger, pharmacy, wine merchant, restaurants and more. Vaxholm is a great archipelago town and is bustling with activity and things to see in the Summer. Vaxholm can be easily reached by the local Vaxholm’s ferry or by taxi-boat.
In the Summer boat traffic is very busy around Vaxholm. If you want to hire a boat you should have a boat license otherwise it is quite dangerous that is why no boat is included with the house. Will have a few bicycles to use on the island or take them on the boat and visit Bogesund castle nearby. Where there is also horse riding and golf. You can rent canoes close to Vaxholm.
Stockholm is very close. Do not miss the Vasa - the old 17th century ship that sank and many of the other interesting museums. Skansen is a great day out to see how Sweden was in years gone by. Visit Astrid Lindgren’s Junibacken or do some good shopping at NK!
